Huffpost

'Two Democratic senators are demanding that the country’s largest medical equipment providers shed light on the White House’s role in distributing life-saving supplies during the coronavirus pandemic.

In letters sent Monday, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (Conn.) asked six companies to explain how and where the Trump administration has decided to direct critically needed medical supplies now that the White House is deeply involved with managing the nation’s supply chain.'

keep a bit quiet about compensation
He appears to struggle to understand that things can backfire on him, that weapons he uses to damage others can also be turned on him.
In his mind he is the supreme being who answers to no one, everything follows from that.

Surely we are watching this creature in its death throes now?

One of the many things I'm still agog about is that they insisted they had sent enough tests to the states.

The Maine CDC received 15 test devices and 5 actual test kits. They'd been promised 2,300.

I know we're a small population, but... 15...

The irony is that they're made in Maine.

AcrossthePond55 · 28/04/2020 17:44

Maine's population in 2019....1.33 million. And they received 5 test kits? That's an absolute obscenity.

Maine went with Hillary in 2016. Coincidence?

Me too :-)

And yes, I don't think we're high on Trump's list of states to be nice to at the moment given our increasingly left-wing leanings.

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/coronavirus-trump-eco-health-research-group-wuhan-lab-funding-china-bat-a9488056.html

'Donald Trump’s administration has slashed funding for a New York-based research group studying how various coronavirus strains spread from bats to people after it became linked to unfounded conspiracy theories seemingly supported by the president.

EcoHealth Alliance has received over $3.7m in funding throughout the last five years to study the possibility of coronavirus transmissions between bats and humans — research it said was “critical to preventing pandemics” in a statement.

Mr Trump said “we will end that grant very quickly” at a White House press briefing earlier this month in response to a question from a Newsmax reporter, who inaccurately suggested that the entire $3.7m in funds to the group had actually been directed to a lab in Wuhan, China.'

'Trump and his defenders have shrugged off his weeks and weeks of downplaying the threat by arguing he was just being “optimistic.” The increasing number of warning signs we’re learning about from within the administration, though, and Trump’s repeated public statements contradicting that information suggest something more serious was playing out behind closed doors.'

Vice President Mike Pence, who leads the White House's coronavirus task force, did not wear a mask while touring the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, despite being informed that wearing a mask is part of the clinic's policy. #CNN #News

Trump is citing a wartime law (the Defense Production Act) to give him authority for an executive order which will force meat-processing plants to stay open even though many are hot-spots for coronavirus and some people who work in them are quite likely to die entirely because of his decision. (But hey, a lot of the workers in meat processing are refugees and immigrants, so Trump probably thinks that is a good thing.)

AcrossthePond55 · 29/04/2020 17:05

Maddow has been following the meat packing story. It's truly horrendous! The absolute disregard for human life is abhorrent.

Of course, Scrotus and the other officials & CEOs who are in favour of this travesty think the plants are staffed 100% with 'illegals' and they probably figure we're 'well rid' of them. Or at least, it's deaths that they're willing to 'write off' for the sake of profit and 'the economy'. Kind of the pandemic equivalent of the gas chambers, no?

What's interesting though is when the media (all sources) interview the plant workers they all appear to be white Americans and they're all scared to death. Although that may be because any immigrants are probably afraid for their jobs to appear on screen.

You know, most of those plants are unionized. And at one time the unions had the power to call strikes and really negotiate from a position of power. Not any longer, thanks to GW Bush. His administration really gutted union power. Scrotus is just finishing the job Dub-ya started.

Trump Says U.S. Will Run 5 Million Daily Virus Tests 'Very Soon.' His Testing Chief Says That's Impossible
time.com/5828843/trump-coronavirus-testing-giroir/

Admiral Brett Giroir, the assistant secretary of health who is in charge of the government’s testing response, said during an interview on Tuesday morning that “there is absolutely no way on Earth, on this planet or any other planet, that we can do 20 million tests a day, or even five million tests a day.”
