while I look like Dennis Healey. Did they all do a threading course before the lockdown? This is not just female presenters, it seems to be everyone interviewed. (Note - Lighthearted. Thought people might appreciate a change from the constant moaning about rule breaking Mumsnet seems to be full of)

They are having to do their own make up due to social distancing rules, surely? So no one will be doing their eyebrows for them.

PicturesOfCats · 11/04/2020 10:30

Threading your own isn’t hard op. Just need a bit of thread and a you tube vide.

And if the worst happens and it goes tits up, you hopefully won’t have to see anyone anyway

Roomba · 11/04/2020 10:31

Or - just got an image in my head of someone trying to apply makeup attached to the end of a 2m long pole...

christmastreewithhairyfairy · 11/04/2020 10:31

I was a victim of the over plucking fiasco of 2002

Very well put Grin
Me too, sadly it means mine are patchy but still straggly and untidy when I don't have them threaded

Danglingmod · 11/04/2020 10:32

I highly doubt more than a small percentage of women ever have someone else "do" their eyebrows for them so, surely, just business as usual?

(Disclaimer: I've never ever set foot inside a beauty salon or had any treatments but I do wear a full face of make-up, pluck my eyebrows etc. Don't most people?)

DonPablo · 11/04/2020 10:34

Mine are microbladed. They look perfect every day, all I do is brush them in the right direction. I was so worried about getting it done, but I'm so pleased with them. I'd really recommend it.

MamaBearLockdown · 11/04/2020 10:38

I have tweezers at home, I just tidy up every single day and my eyebrows look as good as when I had them done last.

Justmuddlingalong · 11/04/2020 10:44

Plucking mine is difficult due to my crappy eyesight. I have to do it by touch, while trying to avoid pinching my saggy skin. I've just taken to wearing my specs more, the frames hides the worst of the stragglers. 👓

AHintOfStyle · 11/04/2020 10:51

@seaofbleu there are no make up artists working on TV shows at the moment, presenters are all doing their own.

Umnoway · 11/04/2020 11:08

My Mum’s blonde so barely has eyebrows and the older she’s got the worse they became thanks to years of over-plucking. She has them tattooed on.

CardsforKittens · 11/04/2020 11:33

I had mine done for the first time ever last week - by my teenage daughter, who was bored. She did a good job, I might ask her to cut my hair as well.

JVC1984 · 11/04/2020 11:35

@Marlena1 They looked terrifying when they were first done because the ink is so dark and they're so swollen. Then you have to persevere with two weeks of scabbing. But then after that I've had two years lovely eyebrows so it was well worth it. I've attached the scary picture of them first done, then a picture (sorry not the best!) of them approximately two months later

Time to name change again 😂

tillytoodles1 · 11/04/2020 11:37

Mine are microbladed and always look perfect as my own eyebrows are very thin so don't need plucking.

QuestionableMouse · 11/04/2020 11:39

I use an eyebrow razor on mine but they're thick and dark.

I don’t know anyone who plucks their own eyebrows anymore, everyone I know gets them threaded or waxed.

There’s a walk in place where I live, costs £6.

Marlena1 · 11/04/2020 14:00

They look brilliant!!!! Oh roll on end of lockdown, thanks a mill!

Tulipstulips · 11/04/2020 14:07

EVERYONE you know? Gosh. Do you discuss it often? I don’t have a clue what anyone I know does!

I overplucked mine in the 1990s so I just have to tweeze out the occasional rogue one, and redraw the rest...

BossAssBitch · 11/04/2020 14:10

I dye and pluck my own. I use professional dye materials from eBay. They look pretty good 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had them threaded once, never again, Wonky AF I just won’t trust anyone with my precious eyebrows, the buggers take months to grow back!

I sometimes use my DH’s nose trimmer around the baby hairs surrounding my eyebrows. Works fine.

Now is the time for experimenting

ClientQ · 11/04/2020 14:11

I have micropigmentation so I follow that as an outline. I taught myself to thread from YouTube and sometimes use a scalpel to shape them if I CBA threading

Ponoka7 · 11/04/2020 14:12

I also use eylure. I did have them tattoo'd but they are fading and i have greys. I have brow mascara which helps them keep in place. It's all for a post menopausal tidy up.
I still pluck.

Thankfully i started tinting my own hair. They must have been supplied with the hair colour they usually use otherwise a few women in the spotlight will have roots, next week.

BananaPlant · 11/04/2020 14:22

Yes, we talk about it at work, have a bit of a laugh about our eyebrows and how much we pay. And then with my friends we’ve talked about it in the pub, so yes. Not often, no! It’s hardly daily conversation. I think my DM is the only person I know of that plucks her eyebrows.

J0nah · 11/04/2020 14:52

I was thinking mainly of the public being interviewed as TV presenters makeup seems as flawless as ever. Unfortunately I can't see without my glasses and can't get to the hairs while wearing them. I saw Jonny Vegas having his hair shaved on tv with a shaver on a 2m pole and a paramedic standing by and my mind went into overdrive.

ChanklyBore · 11/04/2020 14:59

No one has ever done anything to my eyebrows except me.

Mind you, same applies all my body hair except head, which has been hacked into shape a handful of times by some poor soul paid to do it. I would say I’ve only ever had anything done to my nails by my own hand too but I remember I let 9yo DD paint my toenails once.

I’m groomed and wear make up most days, even in lockdown.
