To give a Muslim family Easter treats?

MEEEEEP · 10/04/2020 16:10

I've made Easter baskets for neighbours kids. Chicks, chocolate eggs etc...

Would the Muslim family be happy to accept them?

I'm not religious at all but I know it's a Christian holiday. We just celebrate spring!

I just don't want to put neighbour in awkward position

Isn't that a bit risky in terms of the virus Confused

The items were all wiped down with antibac wipes. I used hamdsanitiser before picking them up. I put them on the doorstep, knocked on the door, went back into my own garden and we chatted over the fence.

You've thought about sensible precautions, they appreciated it. Smile

Yes of course you can.

Our Muslim friends give us Eid gifts and send us Christmas cards. The vast majority buy chocolate eggs as well. We live in a multicultural society its lovely both ways to share the nice bits

We have easter eggs, mainly because dh and I are chocolate obsessed. I buy them for our kids too but we don't celebrate Easter. It is a nice gesture and chocolate is unlikely to ever offend.

Is that all you can come up with in order to piss on someone doing something nice?

@CuriousaboutSamphire No worries at all. It's easy to get mixed up if you do not know much about other religions. But i think as with all the other posters on here, it's lovely to see that religion has not got in the way of people showing loveliness and kind thoughts to each other whether they are Christian, Muslim or Hindu. Or any other religion. It's so nice to hear and see Smile

We exchange Christmas cards, Eid cards, small gifts with my Muslim neighbour! We appreciate each other and the small kindnesses we do for each other throughout the year. You’ve done a lovely thing OP. Easter blessings to you and yours

Macncheeseballs · 12/04/2020 11:30

Clootie, of course it's a nice gesture but I was genuinely confused about the rules etc, i thought we were all trying not to cross infect households - no need to be so rude

Spidey66 · 12/04/2020 11:32

I have Muslim colleagues who will happily join in Secret Santa, Christmas meal out etc. The vast majority while practising their own faith will join in Christian celebrations to a degree.

Yes, do it.... my mum and dad live next door to a Pakistani family who are Muslims, my parents are Christians. They recognise all the main festivals of both religions between them, the kids love it.
