I found a teeny travel size bottle of liquid soap in the drawer that will be great to carry around in case I do something a bit messy for hand sanitizer.

After trying online to find seedling trays with lids, I realised that I could improvise with the plastic containers that tomatoes and grapes come in. (most years I just get plug plants).

I realised that Argos deliver to the mini-Sainsbury that is just across the road.

Anyone got some good things that've happened today, or you realised to share?

Excellent news @StillDumDeDumming - hope that he is a better patient than Lynda!

Good things today - they did actually come and do stuff in the space I moved my car from yesterday, so I saved £65.
I wore my new hat with a visor to Waitrose, and nobody laughed.
Overslept, so from bed to zoom meeting (with video) in six minutes.

  1. Proper Porridge! I had to buy some the week the shops had all been hit by a plague of panic buyers locusts, couldn't get my normal brand, It was horrid, very small flakes, so smooth gloopy porridge. I finished the box yesterday, so back to nice big jumbo oat flakes again. With raspberries.
  2. Nice new perfume arrived that I purchased online. Aldi??!!Confused Smells Amazing.
  3. Got quite a lot resolved at work.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay Did you get any eggs from them?

This morning, feeling groggy and unable to do up my jeans, I decided to go for a long walk in the woods near my house. Totally deserted, beautiful weather, bluebells everywhere. I was very ill last year with M. E. and could hardly walk at all. Today I walked for an hour, up and down hills, at a decent pace. Going to make it a daily thing. I'm not going to push my luck by trying to run but the walk was very enjoyable and I feel much better afterwards.

My DD3 getting so excited about having fresh pineapple for her pudding (we have it quite often, she’s just obviously forgotten) her little face lit up and she clapped 🤣😍

Shatandfattered · 16/04/2020 21:21

My 9month old learned how to properly crawl today instead of belly shuffling Grin

My four year old got into our second choice school 😁

We ate a fresh mango that turned up in our greengrocer delivery, all warm from being in the sun. It was delicious.

And DH and I spent a lot of the day playing ping pong - I bought a cheap set from Amazon and we converted our dining table. Great fun!

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2020 21:31

Blue tits nesting in garden, saw goldfinches in garden (we don't often get them), fresh local asparagus from greengrocer's, sunny day, lots of people commenting on my Playmobil thread, loads of people in my road out for clap for key workers this evening. Smile

On our walk this morning, DS and I came across a deer that had trapped its leg in wire fencing. It was lying down completely trapped and frightened. We managed to free it and after a while it ran/hobbled away only to be joined by three 'mates' from a nearby copse. We don't know if it will survive obviously but it felt good setting it free and giving it a chance.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 16/04/2020 22:32

so glad that you managed to rescue the Deer sewingsinger - another happy thing! - hope that it's OK

for me today:

  1. two volunteer roles that I've applied for, so making juice in the morning tomorrow and an online induction for another role in the afternoon.
  2. The chickens are happy, and I met a few friends and neighbours (@ 2m!) while en route and there, so a nice social afternoon - attended a frazzled cafe zoom meeting when I got back too.
  3. Slippers that I'd ordered last week arrived this morning; v warm and comfy with ridiculously large fur pom poms on the front that my cat likes chasing.

I discovered that a pair of robins are nesting in our ivy. DD and I were watching the parents go back and forth with caterpillars etc. After years of discouraging the neighbours cats from hanging about and shitting in the garden, the birds have finally made a comeback. I also saw the first use (a bluetit) of our new birdfeeder.

Brigante9 · 16/04/2020 22:57

Managed to get x rays booked for the ddog, he’s on 3 legs and I’m really worried.

My equine vet is coming tomorrow for vaccinations-she called and asked. I’m glad because she’s doing last call and when I went up today, the horse is horribly lame, so great timing.

returnofthecat · 17/04/2020 06:52

I had a really good chat with some dear friends I hadn't spoken to in a long time, because of life getting in the way. We picked up where we left off and agreed to set aside a regular time to catch up.

I'm finding with the lack of commute/million hobbies, people are finding more time to reconnect and have meaningful conversations.

StillDumDeDumming · 17/04/2020 11:30

@amritsky I love the birds feeding. When I’m depressed I know I’m doing ok if I can still take pleasure in watching the birds.

DP and I got out to the park we back on to. We have big front steps but he made it down and into the wheelchair. His first time in the real world for months. I feel a lot lighter x

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 17/04/2020 18:07

Excellent progress StillDumDeDumming

I saw a beautiful fox this morning - usually only see them at night occasionally near here, combination of it being so quiet and he's probably hungry because no dumped takeaways.

I spent the day volunteering - 7 whole hours of chatting to people!
Also on my feet, moving about, lugging boxes and stuff, so I actually feel physically tired for the first time in ages. Juicing for the NHS; feels more productive than clapping, but I really don't want to see another carrot for a very long time.

A really lavy got-nothing-done day today
Went for a walk and bumped into a friend and had a long (socially distanced) chat in the street.
I had been worried about my cats' breathing - but I've come to the conclusion that she snores, but doesn't often sleep so close to me, and even when she does, the sound is usually deadened a bit by background noise from outside, I think she's fine.

Our bird box is now home to a pair of yellow tits and a fox has dug a den by our fence so hopefully lots of babies here soon, and I won £25 on the premium bondsSmile
