To eat kebabs that are a year old?

Just discovered in my freezer 10 meat kebabs that I'd forgotten about. Will they still be safe to eat? I bought them probably June last year from my butcher. I froze them as soon as I bought them. They were prepared by my butcher. Would they still be safe to eat if I defreeze overnight then grill?

Id eat them

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 09/04/2020 18:15

Eat them. Why wouldn't you

SharonasCorona · 09/04/2020 18:16

Yes of course I’d eat them!

Funkyslippers · 09/04/2020 18:16

Definitely

Doje · 09/04/2020 18:16

Yeah, I would.

Texture might be a bit tough, but they won't harm you.

CastleCrasher · 09/04/2020 18:17

Yep, definitely would.

OlaEliza · 09/04/2020 18:18

I would.

I thought you meant those nasty takeaway things you get in farmfoods at first then 😂

Waitinginthewings · 11/04/2020 15:48

Wow- I thought most people would say no! Just to add it looks like they are chicken kebabs- they've been marinated in something- kind of kebabs that are on wooden sticks. I'm planning on feeding them to my toddler. Still ok? I'm cooking them in the oven for about 25 mins (I don't cook meat very often).

Yeah they'll be fine, but I'd cook for a little bit longer just to be sure. Make sure they are piping hot all the way through.

StrangerDays · 11/04/2020 16:08

To be totally honest, I'd eat them, but if like you I had a toddler, I wouldn't give it to them.

Artesia · 11/04/2020 16:16

I would absolutely eat them and give them to toddler

LolaDarkdestroyer · 11/04/2020 16:19

No chance

Windyatthebeach · 11/04/2020 16:20

Unless they have been stuffed in the bottom of a handbag post night out just eat them op...

Carrie7469 · 11/04/2020 16:21

They'll be fine

happytoday73 · 11/04/2020 16:22

Yes would eat.... As long as no funny smell when defrost..

mindutopia · 11/04/2020 16:32

We’re about to eat kebabs made from a friend’s sheep that had a dodgy leg last summer.

hibbledobble · 11/04/2020 16:34

That sounds utterly revolting. Surely not safe according to food safety guideline?!

Ninkanink · 11/04/2020 16:46

Absolutely fine and within food safety guidelines too. It’s not revolting at all. Confused

It might not be as flavourful as it would have been a year ago and the texture will likely be slightly deteriorated but it’s still perfectly fine to eat.

Ninkanink · 11/04/2020 16:47

And they’ll be fine for the toddler too.

Ninkanink · 11/04/2020 16:47

Make sure they’re piping hot inside.

catsoup · 11/04/2020 16:50

I'd eat them for sure. I discovered this week that I've been eating frozen Brussel sprouts that have a best before of June 2019 on them. Totally fine.

ButterbuttSquash · 11/04/2020 16:52

Totally fine. Enjoy.

PositiveVibez · 11/04/2020 17:14

That sounds utterly revolting

How rude!!

I wouldn't hesitate to feed them to my toddler

Mummyshark2019 · 11/04/2020 17:25

Good lord no!!! Most things need to be consumed within a few months of freezing.

JohnFinlaysNewTeeth · 11/04/2020 17:31

Most things advise consumption after a few months because of freezer burn and general degradation not because it goes “off”.
