To ask if any other allergy sufferers are getting increasingly worried now the pollen count is rising?

I have very very bad hayfever and have also been diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. It's horrid.

One of my main symptoms when I have a flare up is that I struggle to breath, or struggle to feel like I have enough air going in. This causes constant yawning and a tight feeling in my chest.

It was really bad yesterday, triggered by the high pollen count and it's made me even more worried about if I were to catch this virus.

To clarify I was taken to the doctor's over it often as a child and they confirmed I did not have asthma (although maybe I should go again?) but that the allergies could cause these symptoms.

Sometimes antihistamines help, sometimes I just have to ride it out.

Any other allergy sufferers out there worried?

No Brave, you don’t understand what ‘when’ means.

Me too and I also suffer from olfactory hallucinations which are imagined smells triggers by allergies. I don't think people understand allergies really. My chest feels like it's on fire and I can 'smell' burning. It is so distressing. This started two years ago with a cold that damaged my olfactory receptors. Saw ENT and had a scope and nothing of note. It's so weird. Always been a hay fever sufferer. Every year contact the drs. I've had inhalers in the past so I rang up new for one the other day and he wasn't interested and said just take and antihistamine. So I sit inside with my dust masks that I got last year. It's rubbish.

@Deux Even the OP has admitted she said she is going to see a GP - you clearly said she had never said this.

All the best OP - it's a shame you didn't deal with this beforehand

Yes, pretty awkward isn't it.

When - anytime from today, until next year - but given the fact you are stating you cannot breath properly I seriously hope you have enough brain cells to deal with it sooner rather than later.

Good luck.

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 13:09

I seriously won't be taking any insult of lack of braincells from you Brave. Bye.

I've already clarified what I meant by when I can see the GP

I think it's about getting a doctor that realises how life affecting hayfever can be. I had a doctor that gave me the steroid injections for two seasons about twenty years ago, it was life changing for me.
However, I have been to see other doctors regarding breathing difficulties during hayfever season and have never been given an inhaler and basically been brushed off. Hayfever at it's worse can be debilitating.

Fexafenadine is a good, strong prescription antihistamine. Also acrovastin based benadryl.
We Switch between the two depending on the season and the pollen in force.
