To ask if any other allergy sufferers are getting increasingly worried now the pollen count is rising?

I have very very bad hayfever and have also been diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. It's horrid.

One of my main symptoms when I have a flare up is that I struggle to breath, or struggle to feel like I have enough air going in. This causes constant yawning and a tight feeling in my chest.

It was really bad yesterday, triggered by the high pollen count and it's made me even more worried about if I were to catch this virus.

To clarify I was taken to the doctor's over it often as a child and they confirmed I did not have asthma (although maybe I should go again?) but that the allergies could cause these symptoms.

Sometimes antihistamines help, sometimes I just have to ride it out.

Any other allergy sufferers out there worried?

Have you thought of using a nasal spray?

Thanks Deux. I did use one when it was prescribed when I was going through a really shit episode of it which lasted about a year on and off, my nose was never clear and my ears were effected as well.

I found it did work for a few hours but it never really lasted very long before I was blocked again. I found taking it before bed though helped because I would have a few hours of a blockage free nose which helped me sleep.

I could try it again when I can see the GP.

@OnlyJoker My point is you claim you have been struggling to breath - yet only now are you going to kick up a fuss about it.

If you have been struggling to breath to the point you are not getting enough oxygen as you claim you should have sorted it out before now when we have a seriously overstretched health service.

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:13

I said it feels like I can't get enough oxygen and I never once said I was going to kick up a fuss about it now. I said I was worried because there's a virus going round and one of the symptoms is breathlessness which I already suffer from at this time of year due to the pollen count.

If you don't believe me please feel free to leave the thread.

Please show me where I've said I'm going to kick up a fuss with our seriously overstretched health service??

OP posts:
BraveLittleDragon · 08/04/2020 12:15

@OnlyJoker Surely if it has been that bad you would have sorted it before now?

This is what I don't understand - you say you have had this for years, but only now, when we are in a severe crisis are you actually going to do something about it.

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:18

are you actually going to do something about it

Where have I said I'm going to do anything about it??? This thread is about me being worried about it, not kicking up a fuss at the GP.

And I have tried to do something about it before and no one's interested.

Seriously if you think it's a load of shit then just leave, but don't make stuff up that I haven't said.

Oh go away Brave. You’re not adding to this at all. You’re just using this as a way to berate the OP.

And people don’t stop having health problems pandemic or not.

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:22

I wouldn't mind but I've not even said I'm going to go to the doctor's?! Acting as if I've gone into the GPs office and kicked off when I've done nothing, and not suggested I'm going to do anything, of the sort Confused

Deux · 08/04/2020 12:23

OP. Do google Avamys and order some from an online pharmacy if you think it might help.

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:24

Thank you Deux, I will take a look. I'm not sure which spray I was given by the doctor but that doesn't ring a bell so will give it a try Smile

Brave is just another one of those effing rude behind the keyboard types who never paid attention in reading comprehension at school.

BraveLittleDragon · 08/04/2020 12:28

@Deux Brave is actually someone on the list who is now struggling to get life-saving medication because people like the OP have now decided their "breathing issues" are critical, even though they have had these issues for years (as well as people who are paying privately for inhalers who don't need them).

Surely Deux if you had had breathing issues for years, you would have done something about it beforehand yes? Particularly if you thought that during these issues you weren't getting enough oxygen into your body?

BraveLittleDragon · 08/04/2020 12:29

I could try it again when I can see the GP.

Yes, you said You were going to see the GP. Page 1.

Deux · 08/04/2020 12:36

Well Brave, you’re just taking your own frustrations out on the OP and you’re conflating 2 separate unrelated issues.

BraveLittleDragon · 08/04/2020 12:37

@Deux No I am pointing out that if this is as bad as the OP is making out, it should have (would have) been dealt with before...

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:38

when being the operative word Brave.... I didn't say I was going to go now, I said WHEN I can see the GP I may ask again.

OP posts:
Coughsyrupsucks · 08/04/2020 12:39

If your breathing is bad with the pollen, ask for inhalers. I had seasonal asthma, because of my hay fever and been trying to hide my dry cough for the last month so I don’t terrify anyone! But the GP was more than happy to prescribe them, as my breathing is rubbish this time of year. Covid is terrifying me for the same reasons as you.

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:40

If you don't believe me why are you here?

My thread isn't about kicking off with the GP like you're suggesting it is. It's about being worried about the potential affects of the virus as we are approaching the prime season for allergies and one of my main symptoms is breathlessness.

You're trying to twist it to make out I'm going to our overstretched health service and kicking off and I'm not.

My son has atopic asthma-triggered by pollen. His asthma attack symptoms start with rhinitis. I think it's really weird doctors have ruled out asthma for you, sounds exactly like what you have?

Deux · 08/04/2020 12:41

Brave, OP never said she was going to the GP. See my previous post about reading comprehension. Words matter; little words matter.

BraveLittleDragon · 08/04/2020 12:43

@deux - yes she has said she will see the GP. Exactly the text I copied above was said by the OP.

Perhaps it is you who needs to check their comprehension?

OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:44

WHEN I can see the GP. WHEN as in WHEN it is appropriate to be going to the GP again, I will go.

OP posts:
OnlyJoker · 08/04/2020 12:44

Or are we not allowed to suggest that we may see a GP in the future anymore?

OP posts:
rhowton · 08/04/2020 12:48

I'm with you here. My hay fever caused me to cough and sneeze and my breathing is affected if I go for a run outside. I had a massive coughing fit and sneezing fit on Sunday (first proper day of pollen) in Sainsbury's and everyone was avoiding me like the plague. I then couldn't catch my breath so was trying to apologise and shout hay fever as I was panting! Looking back, hilarious. At the time, I thought they were going to burn me at the stake 😂😂

Coughsyrupsucks · 08/04/2020 12:48

Can’t you message your GP?. All my interaction unless something is spectacularly wrong is done over a GP messaging app. Has been for ages. See if your practice has something similar?
