Neighbour knocking on our door for a cigarette - WIBU

Neighbour has developed a habit of knocking the door for a cigarette regularly for the past year.

(Please no lectures about smoking and covid, I've cut down by half and am working towards quitting)

You can see who's at the door from the sofa, he only ever knocks for this reason.

I told DH not to open the door as he shouldn't be knocking due to guidelines. DH said he will know we're home and so we now look rude.

I know I'm not being unreasonable btw, I would like to see what others thought because DH clearly disagrees

You know if this doesn't stop, you will be literally funding his smoking? You and other people - cos i doubt you're the only ones he's cadging his smokes off.

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/04/2020 17:15

This is utterly bizarre

BubblesBuddy · 07/04/2020 17:49

Especially the notion that the donations should continue because we all need to be neighbourly right now! Yes, bizarre!

AgentJohnson · 07/04/2020 18:00

No idea why he doesn't just buy tobacco himself.

Hmmm, maybe it’s the free civvies he cadges of his neighbour. Funny you berate your H’s behaviour but you haven’t explicitly told neighbour to go away.

Guyonhere1 · 07/04/2020 18:12

Exactly what I said @AgentJohnson

I live in SE London too, Roostersmum2. You can buy cigarettes and tobacco online easily enough. Your neighbour could try doing that for a change.
