How are you dealing with exchanging Easter eggs/birthday presents.

Easter this week (obviously) and my DC’s birthday are coming up. Relatives are insistent they are going to drop Easter eggs and presents to the door.. (won’t come in obviously or get close obviously). Aibu to think this shouldn’t happen as it’s not essential? I live about 10 miles away from family. DC can wait - they have enough from us. I know they don’t want to feel like they are letting the children down but imo it’ll be something for them to look forward to when this finishes - whenever that’ll be!

Oh has collected some things from the in laws - he is going shopping for them so has to drop shopping on her step.. she bought things for the kids a while ago. She also lives down the road from his place of work so that’s a little different.

But to think my family should just leave it for now?

We are just not doing them.

I won't be seeing my GS until this is over and obviously travelling to deliver eggs is non essential. From what DD says she has already bought a few little eggs and will have a slightly different Easter Sunday. GS will still have his little Easter egg hunt though, just not in my garden as is usual.
But nothing is usual or normal right now and I think most people appreciate this.
Obviously Birthdays would be exactly the same, they can wait. I'd rather see my loved ones in a few weeks time than never again

We have loads of birthdays in April , it’s the busiest birthday month for our family .
I sent my niece and mum a card via Thortful (their cards are hilarious and all independent designers) as moon pig wasn’t delivering anymore .
Ordered my mums present online to be delivered straight to her , cash sent online for niece .
Before this current lockdown we went to pil to pick up Easter and birthday presents for dd for next week . Keeping distance etc..
Helps that pil and sil are very well organised anyway with presents.
Others are just sending something direct from dd’s amazon wish list .
We had a lovely pub lunch booked for mil in Bray for her birthday but obviously cancelled now so will reschedule.

Thankfully I bought eggs for my kids before lockdown because I'm stuck across the country (they are adults and don't want me home as their boyfriends have chosen to be locked down at my house!) my mother will give them chocolates at a later date, their dad may drop eggs around as he is supervising the house to ensure they don't have too much fun! (and walks dog)

My parents had bought eggs for the DC before all this kicked off. They live nearby, and I picked the eggs up from outside my parents house when I went over to drop off groceries for them.

PILs live further away, they transferred some money into our bank account and asked us to buy the DC Easter eggs on their behalf, so I bought those when I went to the supermarket to do our grocery shopping.

So the DC will still get their Easter eggs from their grandparents, but there’s been no special trips just for Easter eggs made.
