Am i breaking lockdown rules ?

Hi all,
I live in a flat with a 2 year old. We previously used to go out everyday to a playgroup where him and another girl got on and played every day. He asks about her every day.

I have been self isolating for almost a month now due to my DH having flu symptoms earlier in the month whixh he recovered from. My son, is absolutely bored at home.

This morning I decided to take him out on his scooter next to our block of flats, towards a Tesco (which I wasn’t going into). It’s a little forest walkway where there is runners and I was respecting all social distancing.

I happened to bump into his friend who he has been asking for everyday, he pointed her out and ran towards her. She was on her scooter too. So me and the mum kept 2 meters apart and we let them run the scooter alongside each other. They didn’t touch or anything.

Part of me felt irresponsible but I was overwhelmed with emotion as this was his normal and it broke my heart to end his happy moment as he has been so lonely and bored at home, but I wonder whether I wasn’t following guidelines?

A man saw us and was loudly swearing and cussing and saying how people like me are behind lockdown not being effective and stricter rules.

It has put me off taking my son out at all. But then I feel confused as this is part of the guidelines.

Am I unreasonable

That’s utterly tragic, but it should be pointed out that that child had underlying health conditions

And that's the point of these restrictions in the first place, to PROTECT EVERYONE, especially those with underlying health conditions. People are dying because others, like the OP aren't following the guidelines. Sick to death of all the selfish fuckers during this.

OP how on earth can you claim this is part of the guidelines! Angry

LagunaBubbles · 05/04/2020 02:00

May I note to all you saints out there that I’m not a selfish idiot in real life

Yes you are. And I'm not a Saint, just a Nurse risking my own life every single day I go to work because of people like you.

Yes she may if broken the rules but you posters don't have to be so fucking rude

Well telling the Government telling people nicely what to do isn't working for sone folk who think they can do what they like I'm not surprised people are getting angry.

yellowshirt people without underlying health conditions are dying. That is not scare mongering! People that come out with this scare mongering crap are part of the problem.

Yellowshirt · 05/04/2020 02:12

@Babyroobs. You have hit the nail on the head. I make mistakes every single day.

Some people don't realise there comments on here could seriously tip someone over the edge.
The abuse people receive on here is disgusting and some of you people hiding behind computer screens need to remember what this forum is for.

mous · 05/04/2020 02:12

@WorraLiberty do I detect a note of skepticism for this completely very true story not designed in any way to wind up the AIBU Neighbourhood Watch Grin

CuppaZa · 05/04/2020 02:16

@LagunBubbles is right. So far the government have been polite. This doesn’t work with some thick shits. Time to up the ante, who gives a fuck if stupid people are offended.
OP, you were utterly, utterly in the wrong, and you know you broke the rules.
For fuck sake @1ForAllnAllFor1, stop it. Kids with no underlying issues are dying. Not observing the rules spreads to others and KILLS others.
JUST STOP IT
Shameful

Yellowshirt · 05/04/2020 02:17

@LagunaBubbles she made a bloody simple mistake like probably the majority of us do every day.
Try offering support and clear advice instead of making an already panicked woman worse.
Unless the government enforce strict lock down you can't enforce a 2 metre rule. It's simple.

Yellowshirt · 05/04/2020 02:22

@CuppaZa calling someone thick is shameful. You have no idea if that person is vulnerable or anything and you are horrible.

LagunaBubbles · 05/04/2020 02:26

LagunaBubbles she made a bloody simple mistake like probably the majority of us do every day

Er no speak for yourself. The guidelines are quite clear. If the majority of people are doing this ever day then we're fuckers really.

Try offering support and clear advice instead of making an already panicked woman worse

The advice is clear from the Government fgs! We are all anxious and panicky. And part of mine is caused by people not following the guidelines.

Unless the government enforce strict lock down you can't enforce a 2 metre rule. It's simple

Imagine expecting people not to be selfish and follow correct guidelines. It's not difficult.
7 NHS employees have now died, I'm going to work risking my own life and the world is full of selfish/arrogant/idiots who are contributing. I despair.

LagunaBubbles · 05/04/2020 02:29

Calling someone thick isnt shameful at all. I'd they haven't got the rules then they are either stupid or dont care. What is shameful is the people who are flouting the rules, or making mistakes as you phrased it. That will directly contribute to the death rate. Its also shameful that my colleagues may have to decide who gets a ventilator and who doesn't. Basically who lives and who dies.

LagunaBubbles · 05/04/2020 02:31

were fucked not wee fuckers!!

CuppaZa · 05/04/2020 02:47

@Yellowshirt no. I’m fed up of seeing and hearing of the utter stupidity of people. I’m fed up with idiots putting everyone else at risk. I’m fed up with some of the complete selfishness and narrow-mindedness of people like OP. I’m fed up with worrying about extremely vulnerable loved ones, as well as everyone else’s loved ones. If that makes me horrible, then bring it on.

If someone can’t grasp the concept of what is going on in the world right now...they are thick. And selfish. And ignorant.

PotholeParadise · 05/04/2020 03:32

Well, as you have been self-isolating for a month, you can't have given the other child anything.

I think you made a mistake, but I think the relevant thing is that you have been self-isolating for a month, and you've just come out into a world of people who have mostly got the hang of the 2m rule. So you're making your mistakes against a backdrop of people who didn't even notice the times they messed up themselves on day 1 and day 2.

You were blindsided by the practical challenges of explaining to toddlers that they can't be close to each other right now, and it was unfortunate. You will know for next time.

Peppafrig · 05/04/2020 03:36

Literally hundreds dying everyday but my precious son wants to play with his friend and I couldn't say no. Whoopsie fuck everyone else.

DaisyDreaming · 05/04/2020 03:44

Yes you made a mistake but nothing can change that now so don’t beat yourself up and just focus on how you can avoid it in the future. It must be very hard having a 2 year old in a flat without access to safe outdoors space
Good luck at nightingale

The op made a mistake.

It's very plainly clear though, that people are enjoying the little power trips they can now go on about how virtuous they are a little too much.

Lynda07 · 05/04/2020 04:31

You didn't deliberately bump into the little girl and her mother on your walk. Things happen. Try not to think about it any more - the man who cussed you is a prat.

@PurpleDaisies we don’t know what those conditions were though do we? Something common like asthma is included as a health risk and doesn’t need to be that severe to be a problem. Lots of ‘healthy’ children are asthmatic. Underlying health conditions doesn’t mean seriously ill all the time type conditions
