to remind you that we are actually allowed outside?

I am following social distancing guidelines.

I am not seeing friends or family.

I am getting nearly all my food delivered online.

I am going out once a day for my allowed daily exercise. Yes, to my local park, because I live in London, in a flat with a 4 year old and no garden.

I am constantly seeing threads on here berating "idiots" for "flocking" to parks and suchlike. But the thing is, if I go to the park for my walk, and see other people there - they aren't "idiots", they are people doing the same thing I'm doing - their ALLOWED daily exercise!

I mean, if you have a garden, bully for you. But I don't, we are allowed out, and I will continue to take my son for a walk in the fresh air once a day.

All this "the stricter we are now the sooner this will be over"
Bollocks

really.. you might want to research what happened in other countries, and why it's not just about spreading the disease.

Anyway, maybe the government will wake up and start issuing real fines - not the ridiculous £30 that no one cares about.

Why should everyone be punished by very strong lockdown measures (that are more and more likely after the behaviour this weekend), when it's the idiots who are messing things up?

If you see people not respecting guidelines and you are not reporting them, you are becoming as guilty as they are and should be ashamed of yourself.

The flippant " it's only a few young children and a few healthy nurses in their 20s dying so it doesn't count" is absolutely and utterly disgusting. How low can some posters go.

It's a few weeks Confused 12-14 at most.

Who on this thread has said that?

We are allowed out for walks. HTH.

but more and more parks are closing, and it looks like they might ALL have to close. HTH

MigginsMrs · 05/04/2020 11:03

I know we are allowed, but I have a small garden to sit in, and I don't need to have a break from my family, so I'm only leaving the house if I absolutely have to. And I think others should do the same.

Why should others do what you are doing? What makes you so great?

OlaEliza · 05/04/2020 11:04

A walk round the block or walk to get your shopping. It's common sense that doesn't mean going out to the park and minimise the time you are outside.

I haven't been out for 19 days. I'm not complaining 🤷

You don't have to go to a park to go for a walk.

ThatFriendsReunion · 05/04/2020 11:05

With common sense, we could all have been free to go outside. Even if it had to be a lot more restricted in busy cities than deserted countryside.

Instead, beaches are closed, parks, forests.

It's only about that awful attitude in this country: if I can't go, then no one else should so screw them. It really is depressing and ridiculous: people living right on the beach are not allowed on it. It makes haters feel better I guess.

OlaEliza · 05/04/2020 11:05

Why should others do what you are doing? What makes you so great?

Because it's lockdown. Jesus Christ.

MigginsMrs · 05/04/2020 11:05

I am also amazed at how many couch potatoes have suddenly discovered a love of exercise.

So? What business is it of yours if people go out within the guidelines?

Pishposhpashy · 05/04/2020 11:05

more and more parks are closing, and it looks like they might ALL have to close. HTH

That's fine, and when that happens we won't go anymore! What is so hard to understand here Confused

Inkpaperstars · 05/04/2020 11:07

People going out for walks haven't caused any of these problems, it's the people who are clearly out socialising, letting households mix, lingering around...

The walks, jogs, cycling...those are all allowed and even encouraged. It's the outrageous twats who are ruling it for us all.

Inkpaperstars · 05/04/2020 11:07

I meant ruining, not ruling.

Government is saying that outdoor exercise will have to be banned if people don't stick to the rules. So that's just great. All those people sunbathing, driving to the beach, lounging around in parks in groups - thanks a bunch.

MigginsMrs · 05/04/2020 11:10

Well done you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You’re soooooo much better at this than the rest of us!! It’s almost like this country is made up of 65 million people who don’t all have to think the same way as you.

vanillandhoney · 05/04/2020 11:10

Around here they are. They've just shut the carparks and put roadblocks down so you can only get to the beach if you walk there.

ThatFriendsReunion · 05/04/2020 11:11

You don't have to go to a park to go for a walk.

apparently if you are the OP you could not consider going round the block...

and this exactly why so many of us are really pissed off. It didn't need to go that way, and it didn't need to be told of worst lockdown measures.
After this weekend, they are coming - the weather forecast is lovely for next week.

It's a bloody shame.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 05/04/2020 11:15

We know it's not a smear infection that is transmitted by touching objects, but that close dancing and exuberant celebrations have led to infections
We all know it is caused by ingestion. However, if someone with the virus has coughed into their hand and then touched objects that others go on to touch, who then touch their eyes, nose or mouth then the virus can be transmitted in this way. Ditto for the droplets from their cough or sneeze falling onto objects that others then touch.

If it can last for 3 days on stainless steel and someone with CV coughed in it, then someone else touching that surface (hob, oven, microwave?) could pick it up on their hands and then touch their face it and ingest it. Hence the regular handwashing advice.

Close proximity to others who are dancing/ celebrating can spread the disease but purely because when people are talking/singing/shouting droplets of saliva are also being expelled into the atmosphere, sometimes with great force. These can be ingested by others or picked up by touching objects on which they fall.

Iris243 · 05/04/2020 11:15

Haven’t read all of this so I’m sure it’s already been mentioned.

But there seems to be so much mis information and people haven’t actually read the NHS guidelines. We are self isolating (DD had a temp) and I have had several people say to us that we can’t even go for a walk which is not true.

Enjoy our daily walk and garden. It’s the only thing saving my mental health!

HoffiCoffi13 · 05/04/2020 11:16

These ‘couch potatoes’ as you call them probably get to go out of the house for work, to socialise with friends, to take their children to school and back etc. They can’t do that anymore, so they’re going for a walk instead. What the fuck is the problem with that? And why do you care what these ‘couch potatoes’ are doing, as long as they’re following guidelines? Do you want the government to say ‘if you don’t usually exercise daily, you must stay at home for the foreseeable future’. How would that be policed?

OlaEliza · 05/04/2020 11:16

So likes of you can fuck off and do one. You don’t get to police what other people do or berate them for it when they are following guidelines. Doesn’t mean you are “locking down” any better than the rest of us, despite trying to convince yourself you are

Good luck for when you get full lockdown 😂

And I am doing lockdown better than you because I haven't left my house for 20 days now, actually 🤷
