AIBU?

Is it really safe for everybody to be out in the garden/exercising daily?

I have seen a lot of posts about how people are going to be having BBQS this weekend due to nice weather. My question is, is it really completely safe to do so?

I’m more referring to houses that are situated close together but I don’t really see how high numbers of people out in their gardens eating food is much different to high numbers of people having a picnic in a field (with a 2 metre distance)?

I am aware the virus is not airborne at certain proximities But people are still catching virus even with lockdown.

I also wonder about the daily one hour exercise allowance. My step son has been going out for daily walks and playing in the garden but other than that has been completely isolated from people and has been at home with his mum. However, he has now developed a cold and a cough. Even if this is not the Coronavirus he has obviously picked germs up from somewhere?

Do you think it is completely safe to be leaving the house? I have probably become quite irrational and we do not leave the house at all other than the twice we have needed to shop in 3 weeks.

I sort of think that the daily allowance of exercise has been put in place to throw people a bone and help with overall isolation adherence, rather than it being completely risk free.

No it's not safe. I know someone who never did any exercises suddenly started to jog out in the streets every day since the lock down, and he's still going to work (not NHS) in the city by public transport every day so could be a potential carrier. Some people just take advantage of the fact that other people are self isolating. But it's those selfish people who could be carrying and spreading virus. No-one enjoys being indoors for weeks/months, but we're all doing our bit to make sure we don't pass virus unintentionally to others, not just to protect ourselves. Don't be one of those selfish people.

That's exactly why China, a much bigger country with huge population got it under control within 40 days. It has to be a complete lock down. Daily exercise can easily be done at home/garden. I went to gym 4 times a week and still manage to workout at home during lock down. I don't understand why people have to suddenly take up outdoor sports right now. Many people are just taking advantage of this allowance. I went out for a short walk with my mask on around our neighborhood after self isolation for 3.5 weeks, and to my surprise lots of people are out there, including those flying kites and playing on seaboards.

Yes, I think it’s important that no-one have fun at all.
Definitely not fly a kite, because even though that observes the rules of physical distancing, you may enjoy your day.

Confused

@Isawthathaggis well, I managed to fly my kite in my living room and then use it instead of bread for a sandwich ensuring total misery but staying safe!
