To fucking love the clap

Now, that's a sentence I didn't think I'd say but I bloody love the clap. My whole village burst to life, people waving (socially distancing) and cheering I know it's twee, I know it won't give those at risk PPE. But it made people feel like a community.

I love it, I think it brings everyone together with community spirit. This isolation malarkey sucks but it’s necessary (and lonely for some).

Wynston · 02/04/2020 21:09

I was trying to find out what time it was happening....i chuckled to myself when i put nhs clap into my search bar

20wedding19 · 02/04/2020 21:16

@Wynston - I bet a few things came up in that search Grin

*ladyB28
"*As long as the clapping on a Thursday translates into people voting differently in the next elections, fair enough.

If you clap and then use those same hands to post a ballot for a Tory government, you could do with washing your conscience as well as your hands.

This, a million times this.

CountFosco · 03/04/2020 05:31

We didn't notice it last week (not on faceache) but it seemed much louder this week. Went out this week and all the neighbours were out and it was nice to see people. Doesn't do much good for the NHS though.

catnidge · 03/04/2020 05:40

About half the people where I love were out.
The buses had turned their interior lights blue and were beeping their horns.

As far as I'm concernwd we are clapping all those that are continuing to have to go out and work through this.
DC is a Dr on a covid ward and they appreciate the feeling behind it.

Bamboo15 · 03/04/2020 06:04

Hate to be cynical but it reminds me of the Tory’s clapping and cheering in parliament when they blocked the bill to increase nurses pay.

I wonder how many of the people clapping voted for a party that made cuts to the NHS and NHS workers, but it feel it’s ok now be there cheering them on.... I have a few family members working in the NHS and although they think it’s a lovely gesture they wonder the same.

Genopy · 03/04/2020 06:26

After witnessing half of the residents in my street out and about all day, everyday with zero social distancing, as if there is no global pandemic and then standing on their doorsteps clapping and whistling nauseating and hypocritical!!!

user1471565182 · 03/04/2020 06:44

Scarlett is correct- smug meaningless nonsense so they can feel better about THEMSELVES then continue standing by whilst staff's lives are made miserable and the service is defunded up to the point it collapses, when that prick whos currently playing Churchill in no 10 will sell it off to his eton mates.

KatherineJaneway · 03/04/2020 06:50

Scarlett is correct

Scarlett isn't 'correct', she just doesn't like the clapping. That doesn't make her right, just that you agree with her view.

nakedavengerreturns · 03/04/2020 06:56

I think it's cringe-worthy, smug and self serving. None of this is altruistic. My DH is front line and hates it too.

The bloody Facebook posts from people who post their seal flapping kids to show how wonderful they and their communities are when I know at least two of them voted Tory and Brexit because 'it's what's best for me and my little famalam'.

One lot who have been most happy clappy smug 'look at us' posted about their voting inclination on Election Day and when challenged over the NHS said 'Well its the day after the election and I see the NHS hasn't collapsed' with laughing emoji. Twats

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/04/2020 07:05

I neither voted Brexit or Tory. I am clapping. I live in a Tory stronghold. Maybe this will make people think. I doubt it though.

TORDEVAN · 03/04/2020 07:07

when it was just clapping it was nice, now it’s turned into ‘making noise’ I don’t like it.

I have 3 under 3 who all were woken by someone nearby with a saucepan and wooden spoon Angry

Poetryinaction · 03/04/2020 07:17

It's good, but annoying at 8pm when the littlies have just gone to bed.

20viona · 03/04/2020 07:19

I also love it! There's some
Miserable bastards on here.

Page3 · 03/04/2020 14:26

I like the thought of it but a lot are just doing it for 'likes'
