AIBU to want to punch my neighbour

Hi, tried posting this with a photo earlier, but mumsnet deleted it because apparently you can identify a non mumsnetter - no you cant!!

We moved into this property 6 years ago.
Neighbour wasn't happy as he wanted daughter to move into the property - daughter doesn't want to live near parents!
Over the past 6 years we have had nothing but hassle from this neighbour.
I'm a nutshell, he doesn't like people on benefits - I'm long term sick through mental health and sever back problems.

This morning (and this was why I included photo) this neighbour was out the front cutting his grass wearing a coat with a hood, surgical gloves taped up with electrical tape to the sleeves and a scarf wrapped around his face covering his nose and mouth - his reasoning?

BECAUSE PEOPLE ON BENEFITS WILL GET IT FIRST!!!!!

Please tell me I'm not being unreasonable when I say I really want to go out and punch him in the face!

Oh forgot the best bit - he actually spat on my path when he said this!!!!

Pleased your opposite neighbour witnessed it. It's often easier when it's not just your word against his.

He sounds horrible sorry op.

Bless your other neighbour.
So glad it's been reported.
Spitting is fucking vile.
I hate it so much. And with all this going on it's just downright bullying from him.
Tell your LL everything OP.
Let him beat the shit out of the scumbag.

Feedingthebirds1 · 31/03/2020 16:53

landlord is well known in my area, I live in Liverpool - landlord would definitely break social distancing rules!!!

If that means what I think it means, let your LL bring it on. I'm sure him and a couple of his mates at your neighbour's door would put a stop to it.

pooopypants · 31/03/2020 16:55

Are you able to record some of his behaviour on your mobile? That would help to support your diary entries and back you up if (when) you need to call the police. Are you able to report the spitting online, I believe many forces have set up online chat facilities on their websites so you can report there instead of calling in

@Feedingthebirds1 yes you are correct and karma is already at play with someone else he has abused (Windows smashed, car vandalized). Landlord is a good guy, family well known for this (uncle used to play for Liverpool).
So don't want it to go down this route.

I'm also well known in the community from doing previous charity work and volunteering - right now I'm cooking meals for an elderly neighbour who's self isolating and making up bags of colouring sheets, sweets and other bits to be handed out by the local school in food parcels for our area.

So I do have a lot of contacts and I am gathering evidence etc.
I was just so shocked and angry this morning, needed to vent and a head wobble hence (thankfully my first post was deleted - thank you mumsnet) this thread.

So sorrry your going through this at such an already stressful time. BrewCake

HaddawayAndShite · 31/03/2020 17:39

I'd probably resort to chucking dog shit at his house but I'm not very mature. Do you know if he owns or rents? If he rents could you find his estate agent / landlord and report him?

(Total derailment but @DannyNedelko love the name!)

goldpartyhat · 31/03/2020 21:36

I was going to say unreasonable because I don't like violence, but punch away OP

MintyMabel · 31/03/2020 21:45

Its a scarf not a hermetically sealed space helmet. It takes 2 fingers to pull down!

Strange thing to do if you have gone to the trouble of sealing your clothing with tape because you are afraid of infection.

Mirada · 31/03/2020 21:49

no, yanbu

StoneofDestiny · 31/03/2020 21:52

Report to police - they can collect his spit for DNA and wil take it clearly in current crisis - they've just said they'd arrest people for coughing at people deliberately.

Don't tolerate it - don't engage - hand it to those who can act for you.
