  • apart from the obvious, and probably hysteria-inducing, “Guess what, the internet’s had to be shut down today, kids!”

Also bearing in mind that popping out to get a prop or whatever probably doesn’t amount to “essential travel”.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions, I had success with the ‘your French teacher has asked if you’ll both ring her and let her know how your languages work from home is going’, the ‘oh gosh there’s a Big B in the conservatory’ and swapping cereal packets to a different cupboard.....

I am shocked by the absolutely miserable bastards on this thread. Newsflash, some families like to have fun and play jokes on each other. Not all children would be scarred for life by the ideas on this thread. Get a sense of humour.

Yes such miserable bastard snowflake types who don't get their kicks from humiliating and laughing at their own children.

I am wayyyyy late to this thread, but if any of you want to torture your children with an unexpected prank, this is the best I have ever seen

Happy to be a miserable bastard. We did have April fools jokes. They involved a drop of green food colouring in the milk. Saying ‘what’s that in your face’ - as someone walked down the stairs half asleep. A plastic poo on the stairs.

They just didn’t involve humiliation or genuine disappointment.

No raising of hopes. No cruelty.
