Tentative good news, but he's been suspended before

As said, I'll save the cheers for when it's actually removed ... if it happens

nameymcnamechangeagain · 30/03/2020 14:56

He recently made a flippant remark on one of our local fb pages responding to somebody looking for a house to rent about how “he’d never rent, hed just buy what he wanted” - how can your each that stage in life actually not understanding that not everybody is able to buy Hmm

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 14:57

Reading the responses was, in the most, quite depressing. If this is what passes as 'just 'aving a larf, luv' then I give up.

And as for his non-apology - he does have a mum? Sisters? Partner? What an a-hole.

DC3dilemma · 30/03/2020 15:01

And as for his non-apology - he does have a mum? Sisters? Partner?

Yes, but he’s the kind of man who thinks they are his. So defends his joke about violence against women by talking about what he’d do for the women in his ownership. An a-hole indeed.

@Isoskdidin88282

Not completely happy no. I would much prefer it that there were real honest to goodness criminal charges for this. As previous posters alluded to, if he had advocated punching black people, disabled people or gay people we would all (rightly) view that as despicable and potentially a hate crime. This man has singled out women for violence and people like you are defending him because its a 'bad joke'. No it's not. It's a hate crime. It's discrimination and it's vile. Violence against women and girls has never been funny or acceptable and 'jokes' about it are not either (not that I believe for one second that this is a joke)

It isn't just women who are offended either, men are too. Including men who enjoy boxing. Most ordinary human beings would not find that sort of joke funny or acceptable, let alone approve of actually beating women. That's not PC or feminism, that's just being a decent human being.

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 15:07

And i dont believe these are the first.

JackiFazaki · 30/03/2020 15:08

Well done RoyalBankof FuckThis and all who spoke up.

"In a statement, the British Boxing Board of Control said that "having considered comments made by Billy Joe Saunders on social media, [it has] suspended his boxer's licence pending a hearing under the board's misconduct regulation, at a time and venue to be confirmed as soon as possible" as reported by Sky News.

Good on BBBC for acting quickly to suspend.

Billy Joe is no Muhammed Ali.

nameymcnamechangeagain · 30/03/2020 15:11

My god, you should see some of this shit his sister has posted about all the snowflakes being offended 🤣 “people are dying it was just a stupid joke”

People are also being beaten to death by their partners on a daily basis love - much much bigger picture!!!!

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 15:14

Does he give his sister money then? I can't imagine why any woman would stand up for this creep. Would she be so supportive if her other half punched her in the face, or her dad belter her mum - because her bro said it was ok? Stupid woman.

Isoskdidin88282 · 30/03/2020 15:14

It’s a shame he said this. He was supposed to fight the best boxer atm in Canelo in Las Vegas. Think the fight will still happen though, despite his comments. There have been similar cases with other boxers and they haven’t been dealt with harshlt

JackiFazaki · 30/03/2020 15:18

Ah there will be a lot of shouts of snowflake.
But the video speaks for itself.
His sisters and the hangers on will be worried about the money drying up on them.
He's on his way out longer term now. He is a liability.
Eddie Hearn his own promotor has just called him idiotic. Frank Warren his former promotor was seemingly glad to get rid last time Billy Joe was suspended and fined.

Isoskdidin88282 · 30/03/2020 15:23

Hearn hasn’t and will not expel him from his contract though. He said he was idiotic because he had to. He had no other choice. He knows what BJS is like and this isn’t surprising

JackiFazaki · 30/03/2020 15:27

He won't get the fight with Alverez.
He'll end up a lonely skint gone to seed blob watching re runs of Rocky.

Isoskdidin88282 · 30/03/2020 15:30

We’ll see but I’m 99% sure he’ll fight Alvarez whenever that will be. Like I’ve said, Other boxers have made similar comments and nothing has stopped them fighting. Unfortunately, he’ll have his licence back in no time

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/03/2020 15:36

I am floored. I don’t mean this as a pun. But quite literally. No stuffing left in me. I’m glad he’s been suspended. But that’s way not enough. He needs to be prosecuted.

ITasteSpring · 30/03/2020 15:37

It's astonishing that some people still can't see the real-life violence that this video encourages.

Its astonishing that some people still can't see the cultural acceptability of male violence to female partners that such comments feed into and feed off.
The video is 'funny' because it encourages men and boys to laugh along, saying ' I hear you! She's doing my nut in mate! I could really hit her!' It encourages them to think that feeling like hitting their female partner when they have a disagreement is normal; is how other men feel. That feeling like that is a male bonding moment, a laugh they can all have together. And breaking down the social unacceptability of feeling like that, means it is easier to slip over into hitting your partner - because all men feel like that right?

MsJaneAusten · 30/03/2020 15:42

What the fuck did I just watch? Hate crime, surely?

Isoskdidin88282 · 30/03/2020 15:44

Do you think anything else will happen to him?

Annamie · 30/03/2020 16:22

@Isoskdidin88282

Not going to respond to any of the posts responding to your comment that this was a light-hearted joke? How surprising.

JackiFazaki · 30/03/2020 16:23

Do you think anything else will happen to him?
Karma

Isoskdidin88282 · 30/03/2020 16:33

His comments were wrong and he deserves to be punished. All I’m saying is that he THOUGHT it was a joke, even though it clearly wasn’t @Annamie

Annamie · 30/03/2020 16:44

No @Isoskdidin88282 you said ‘he was clearly joking and he’s apologised now so we should move on.’

You tried to shut this discussion down. The ‘we should move on’ is a comment made by lots of his supporters and it’s horrible. You want to brush this under the carpet and that’s unacceptable. Stop trying to rewrite what you said.

Isoskdidin88282 · 30/03/2020 16:49

@Annamie TBH, I didn’t actually know what he said until I saw today. I probably shouldn’t have commented about this until I knew what actually happened and what he actually said. After seeing his comments, he deserves every punishment and more. Ik you probably don’t believe me, and that’s my fault for not looking into this before commenting.

n00bMaster69 · 30/03/2020 16:49

All I’m saying is that he THOUGHT it was a joke, even though it clearly wasn’t

So he said something that clearly wasn't a joke but he thought it was a joke, even though it wasn't a joke? Confused

That doesn't make sense.
