Anyone’s toddler refuse to just sit and watch a bloody film? 😭

Obviously isolation = parenting on hard mode. I’m usually a SAHM so used to having this little maniacal toddler all day long but Jesus titty Christ not being able to go to the usual classes or activities and having him home alone... WHY CAN HE NOT WATCH A FILM?! I would love nothing more than a 90 minute afternoon sit down with a soothing classic like the Lion King on, after a morning of supervising him trying to kill himself on everything in the garden all morning. I’m pregnant and I’m tired and I want to sit and eat biscuits and cuddle, but the only fucking thing he will watch for any period of time is obnoxious YouTube videos of balls and cars.

Any advice?

And yes, I know parents WFH have it 10000 x harder. Everyone please use this thread to have a moan as well - it can’t just be me that’s wondering how I’m going to cope with not one, but two children stuck at home. 😭😭😭😭

My ds is two and three months, I also have a 5 month old DD. Ds will sit for shaun the sheep, thomas the tank engine, or we bare bears which is on youtube. Wont sit through a whole movie but will sit for an hour or so watching those things.

Basically my strategy is to stick him in front of the tv when baby has to go down for a nap, but other than that, it stays off. It maintains its novelty that way. (In theory)

Mine's about to be 3 and he won't either. He might watch a bit but def not the whole thing

@crispysausagerolls I can't bloody stand him, their dad introduced them. The worst thing is, even if I let them watch it so I can get stuff done, they mimic him for hours afterwards.

Feeling helpless to give any support to my DD since the lockdown She is home with a 2 year old who is used to the attention given at nursery Plus trying to work from home in a very stressful high powered job. Work not being sympathetic just piling the pressure on
She is married but DH is working long ours as a essential worker
She also has underlying health conditions making her vulnerable to this virus
Any bright ideas appreciated

My DS 2yo are on the opposite side of this issue, he’s obsessed with the telly and no matter how many times I try to keep him entertained without it, he’ll paw at it until he gets to watch something (feel like such a shite Mum admitting that!).

Uggh mines the same, I tried to take her for a walk today and as soon as we got outside, she wanted to go back in to watch telly. At one point I plonked her in the conservatory and said "JUST GO OUTSIDE!"

I think I'll lose my mind if I watch Ben & Holly, Peppa Pig or Chip & Potato once more.

Have you tried Shrek? I don’t know why but my toddler absolutely loves it. They aren’t bothered by most other things, Disney stuff has no effect, point blank ignores it.
Not sure what it is about shrek - the type of animation / loud music etc but you can usually get him to just sit and enjoy most of it

I hope they do like video games I’ll admit that OP.

Though I feel like Navi myself these days constantly saying “Hey! Listen!” And pointing out something painfully obvious for the 100th time (“Hey DS! Listen to Mummy! We don’t try to bite the cats tail!”).

DS loves watching a bit of Dragon Quest Builders though - I showed it to him when his sister had a bug over Christmas and she was sleeping a bit more than him, so I decided to try him out with it. He gets so excited watching the little characters run about and build stuff 😂 I do wonder if that’s what got him to finally try stacking his play blocks as previously he’d just glare at them.

This has tickled me more than I can say
