Anyone’s toddler refuse to just sit and watch a bloody film? 😭

Obviously isolation = parenting on hard mode. I’m usually a SAHM so used to having this little maniacal toddler all day long but Jesus titty Christ not being able to go to the usual classes or activities and having him home alone... WHY CAN HE NOT WATCH A FILM?! I would love nothing more than a 90 minute afternoon sit down with a soothing classic like the Lion King on, after a morning of supervising him trying to kill himself on everything in the garden all morning. I’m pregnant and I’m tired and I want to sit and eat biscuits and cuddle, but the only fucking thing he will watch for any period of time is obnoxious YouTube videos of balls and cars.

Any advice?

And yes, I know parents WFH have it 10000 x harder. Everyone please use this thread to have a moan as well - it can’t just be me that’s wondering how I’m going to cope with not one, but two children stuck at home. 😭😭😭😭

Sorry for the bad news but mine has only just started to watch films (and only very select ones...) and she’s almost 5. Just go for the YouTube videos if it gives you a few minutes peace - I’m pregnant too and stuck at home with a 2yr old and 4 yr old I don’t care if it’s the millionth episode of peppa pig I just need to lie on the sofa for a bit.

Actually crabbo, just hearing someone else whose child did not watch films for ages makes me feel a LOT better. All my friend’s children will sit and watch a Pixar happily whilst I’m tearing my hair out running in circles 🤪😂

My 2yo won't watch a film. He will watch Blaze and Monster Trucks on Amazon Prime though, which does offer some respite!

If they like a particular program, you tube seems to have mash ups of different cartoons in hour long programs. Win.
You have to keep skipping the ads though unless they have figured it out yet. My 2 year old hasn't.

My toddler won't, we've watched the first five mins of 100 films on Netflix

I'm trying to work from home whilst my 3 and a half year old keeps asking for me to play with him and then cries when I tell him I can't right now. I have to be available on the phone as we take calls from the general public otherwise I would play with him. It's really frustrating.

My partner should be here helping me as he also has the ability to work from home but his boss is being an absolute tosser.

So I'm annoyed at the situation and very frustrated that I have sad preschooler, and there's nothing I can really do about it. We can't afford for either of us to not work. :(

My 2 year old will sit and watch Stick man. It's 40 minutes long. That's AT LEAST half a pack of biscuits. I'd recommend trying it.

I'm trying to WFH with the toddler who could hurt himself in a padded room. It's a nightmare.

The only film my 2 year old will sit through is Moana. Once they latch onto that one film they like, they will watch it 1000 times and still want to watch it again.

I'd just play short episodes of things. It's difficult for small children to concentrate on a feature length film.

Mine didn't until she was about 7/8. Even now she's not that bothered.

None of my kids watch a movie at that age. Looking at movie-afternoon in primary schools, most of reception-year (and at least year 1) children have no interest in sitting down for an entire movie.

You are looking at age 5 to 6 minimum if anything like my ds

My two year old and five year old won’t watch anything for more than 20mins maximum. They did play with the sand this morning for an hour whilst I sat in the sun, maybe try something like that instead?

Start with short films, the gruffalo, stick man, zog etc are on iplayer at the moment. They last 20 minute, so you get a shot break, my toddler will sit through one, sometimes a few in a row.

I have 3 at home 2 older and a 20 month old...its proving to be harder then I thought keeping him entertained. He wont watch tv at all has to be busy. I'm exhausted

Yep! I’ve got twin toddlers (3 years old in April) and honestly I am stressed. I know I am lucky as we are all safe and have food etc but fuck me it’s hard work! Obviously at the toddler age they don’t understand what’s going on it’s such hard work. I feel like I am the brink of a panic attack several times a day. You are not alone x

DD wouldn’t watch a film at that age..then she discovered Wallace and Grommit and she watched them all. Gradually the attention span improved.

YABU to expect a toddler to sit for 90 mins. But I get that it is hard.

My two-year old won't sit and watch a film. He will watch a bit of Peppa pig and some videos on YouTube but doesn't have the attention span yet to sit and watch a film for more than 10 minutes tops!

It's so hard isn't it my almost 2-year old needs constant attention and chatting even when watching tv. Little baby bum is lots of short songs, might work?
