to think that going for a walk is too bloody stressful?!

We live in London. Go out for our permitted daily walk (me, dog, 4yo DD). Constantly having to dodge on the way to the park to avoid people coming in the opposite direction. Once in the park, same story. Dodging out of the way every 10 seconds to maintain social distancing. DC not understanding why she cannot run on ahead. DD touches bench before I can stop her then immediately puts a finger in her mouth. Leave to return home as park is just too busy to be able to be safe.

We dont have a garden and I desperately feel we need outdoor exercise, but this is the same story every time and it doesn't matter what time of day it is either.

I agree. I like in a quiet neighbourhood and the anxiety is too much!!

@OlaEliza can I ask whether you live in a flat with no garden or balcony and have a child?

Peeps taking kids out: put gloves on them? It will deter them from putting fingers in mouths, and then put them in the wash when you get home.

I live in Spain where we are 2 weeks ahead of you and in complete lockdown, that has just had its first extension.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 25/03/2020 08:55

@OlaEliza I read that you are to overtake Lombardy soon. The numbers were really concerning for days now. And then there is the issue of Madrid fans coming in for football. People in here will not understand what you are saying. Many just can't comprehend the idea of a proper lockdown. I have to admit that even Brexit didn't make me want to leave because I usually love Britain and the slight awkwardness of Brits, but the behaviour in recent weeks is really making me reconsider staying here...

Hope you are safe and that it will ease off soon.

I think the best time with a dc would be early morning. It’s very difficult and I really feel for people with no outside space particularly with dc.

We have a small garden but are lucky enough to be able to go for walks in our local area without seeing anyone as we have access to woodland from our back garden which nobody else ever uses and there is a field at the end of the road again nobody else uses it so I feel there is no risk allowing my dc to use them. We do have a local park aswell which is always in use so are avoiding going there.

Thank you @BodiesMakeGoodFertiliser. Unfortunately I see this going on for 2-3 months. China was on lockdown for 2.5m. We haven't been out for over a week now and won't need to until next week at the earliest, and we'll leave it as long as possible. I want some coke and ketchup, as they are getting very low, but those are wants and not essential so we won't go out for them. It's pretty simple 🤷

And unfortunately I see a phased lockdown for the UK coming, so rather than shock people into complete lockdown, within a week these walks will (should) be banned. The sooner the better imo.

@UseByDateExpired I've just read the rules again and can see that I'm wrong. If you LIVE TOGETHER in one household there is not a max number that should be out at one time in a group. Fair enough!

A jogger ran past me the other day and spat on the road!....The rage Angry

Carbosug · 25/03/2020 09:30

YANBU I spend my time crossing the road or stepping out into it to keep a distance. And invariably there's a few kids flying along the pavement on bikes and scooters, miles ahead of their parents.

The joggers spitting onto the pavement deserve heavy fines.

It would be so much better if only those without their own outdoor space went for walks. It's just not sustainable with everyone out and about.

I live in the grounds of a stately home. The building is closed and officially so are the gardens but people can walk around the gates since they are really just there to stop vehicles. Everyone within a 10 mile radius lives in a village and so the vast majority will have gardens. Still, the grounds are packed like its a public holiday. Someone tried to climb over our gate yesterday to take a walk down my driveway!
