As part of eBay‘s cooperation with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) there will be a new enforcement of an eBay Medicine and Healthcare products policy. This means that from the 21st of January 2019, if you sell over the counter medicine on eBay you’ll have to be registered with the MHRA (which you already should be anyway) **

I hope you all agree that in these times the last thing that should be happening is people profiteering from those in need.

With medicines not vastly available on the shelves and not accessable to those that need them there are selfish people trying to gain for themselves and make quick money. It's also dangerous to buy medicines from an online source especially eBay as the condition of the items is unknown.

I am asking if you have a spare two minutes to report any listings you see for the sale of Calpol or other medicines, so they are removed from the site, this will hopefully begin to send a message that the resale of these items will not be profitable and keep some bottles on shelves.

In the last few days I have managed to end auctions of open packaged medications and a box of Calpol about to sell for £155.

I'm hoping the more that report, the more they will listen.

Thank you

I reported a few yesterday but I wasn't sure what category to report them under. Can I ask what you used?

TossACoinToYourWitcher · 20/03/2020 11:23

Just had another look and reported a few more under drugs, but noticed there's quite a few with bids of several thousand. Wonder if this is people bidding with no intention to pay as part of a campaign?

Ilovetoast10 · 20/03/2020 11:29

I am hoping so, I think it's to get the attention of eBay and it will be pulled from auction.

I have reported as, prohibited item, drugs, alcohol and tobacco and chosen the "other category."

Today I have seen somebody with 5 cases of 6 bottles for sale, at £8 per bottle. The sad thing is for the price of the others people will think it's not a bad price, forgetting it's over double what you would be on the shop.

Nappies are also on eBay for an extortionate price per packs, huge marks up on Aldi's nappies in particular and also thermometers.

Some people pray on the fact that people are scared and they want to protect their children. These people deserve nothing more than to suffer chronic raging toothache and explosive diarrhea for the rest of their lives!

I've just had a look and there's loads.

One user has two bottles of Calpol and two boxes of paracetamol as a paracetamol bundle!
Words fail me.

Itsseweasy · 20/03/2020 11:56

I’ve reported every one that I’ve found.
I see that some people are also choosing to leave a 1 star product review for those trying to profit from selling kids medicine 👍🏻

Ilovetoast10 · 20/03/2020 11:57

@LolaSmiles I've seen that one too.

OP posts:
LolaSmiles · 20/03/2020 11:57

I did like one that people have bid up to £45,000 😂

mumme111 · 20/03/2020 11:59

I'll report today it's so cruel x

DontCallMeShitley · 20/03/2020 12:02

There are two reasons for the high prices if they are on Buy it Now, one is that they really hope to get the money, the other is that it is sold out and they have put a very high price on to stop people buying it and keep their place in the rating system because they rely on that to make any sales when it is back in stock. To end the listing would put them at a disadvantage when they re-list.

If you see this, check the ended listings and see if they have actually sold anything at that price before you report them.

If you see genuine price gouging then do report. Also report the creep that keeps listing sheets of used toilet paper with a smear of crap on it. Because as soon as I get it ended another one appears.

2beautifulbabs · 20/03/2020 12:03

I feel physically sick seeing all this how can people behaviour in such a way to others and to take stuff they don't need or require to put lives at risk for their own selfish greed.

I would love for the police and firms to personally fine these people, arrest them but sadly know that our police force are already stretched without having to deal with idiots like these and the firms can't do anything to stop them shocking I really hope karma comes to bite them badly what goes around comes around Angry

Emmacb82 · 20/03/2020 12:05

Someone was selling one tin of aptamil milk for £7,900 yesterday. It had 57 bids. I’m hoping that people are just taking the mick out of the seller and have no intention of paying that. So many selfish pigs out there, makes me so angry. Ebay, amazon and other marketplace sites really should be clamping down on this, they must see it going on

This one ends soon so get reporting!

PicsInRed · 20/03/2020 12:17

Love the sabotaged auctions.

Richly deserved. 😂

Ilovetoast10 · 20/03/2020 12:21

@DontCallMeShitley thank you for your post, I didn't know about he keeping a place in the rating systems.

That eBay seller has a 100% feedback score Shock

WombleOfThigh · 20/03/2020 12:22

Also reported it!

AngelsSins · 20/03/2020 12:36

Ok thicko here - how do you report?! I have nothing better to do so can help!

DontCallMeShitley · 20/03/2020 12:41

Please report this also (it is not a pleasant sight)

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/a-Single-sheet-of-used-but-dry-toilet-paper/402170362386?hash=item5da338ba12:g:ViMAAOSw9jxecoNz

Ilovetoast10 · 20/03/2020 12:46

@AngelsSins in the top corner of a listing is three dots, if you click on this is will bring the option to report.

Then there will be three drop down boxes and choose the following, prohibited item, drugs, alcohol and tobacco and chosen the "other category."

@TossACoinToYourWitcher

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174223141357, seller has done nothing wrong, they started the auction at 99p, a new bidder (yellow star) has bid several times as they clearly wanted the item, and it has taken off from there.

Really people need to look at the bidding history before you start a witch hunt. People might be hoping to make some money because they have no income any more and you want to destroy it. If someone wants to pay over the odds for something they really need, it is their choice.

I do not agree with price gouging any more than you do but you need to understand how Ebay works before you report.

Ilovetoast10 · 20/03/2020 13:03

@DontCallMeShitley

I understand your point. Private sellers are however prohibited from selling forms of medicines on eBay without the correct licensing, putting aside the monetary aspect there is no way to assess the safety of the product.

I do completely agree that under normal circumstances that it is a person's choice what they do, however people feel they currently have a lack of "choice" so they feel they need to pay £45 for somebody's prescribed medication, as there are none available on the shelves.
