So. The schools are shut. Please recommend me educational programmes for primary kids, or link me to decent websites or YouTube videos.

Not exactly reading, writing or arithmetic but for environmental studies, 'do you know' is good.

Jolly phonics on YouTube has some good basic information.

If you use Facebook, there are several new groups there with many suggestions for resources and support for people who are educating their kids at home during the schools closure. Experienced home educators can be found on them alongside parents whose kids are temporarily off school.

Here's one such group which I've joined. It was launched by Mike Wood, who's very well respected in the home ed community - and is in my opinion one of the kindest and most supportive people you could wish to know. He runs the long-established home ed organisation "Home Education UK": www.facebook.com/groups/HEUKSchoolClosureSupportForum

It has 3700 members already!

Our school uses readings eggs but they have a subscription I'm not sure on individual prices.

They're doing 30 days free to everyone because of the schools situation.

Twinkl and Numberstacks are offering a months free trial so I’ve signed up to both.
BBC bitesize is still as useful as ever.
Cosmic kids yoga on YouTube is good to get them moving and I know Joe Wicks is starting daily PE lessons on YouTube from Monday.
My DC like the show Brainchild on Netflix and also Horrible Histories.
We use the apps Times Table Rockstars and Duolingo to cover times tables and French.
My DC’s school recommended maths and spelling shed, they are also offering a free trial so I’ll be trying those out.

Your school should have provided you with a distance learning package which includes educational websites.

I love the way the OP didn’t bother to state an age range. But then, all MNetter’s children seem very advanced.

Hmm What an unnecessarily snarky response to a harmless and potentially helpful OP. The OP specified Primary. Many or most of the suitable websites will probably have a range for all year groups in Primary.

Tons on here. www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=bored%20teachers&epa=SEARCH_BOX

Also, Twinkl is offering a free subscription during the crisis.
