Not exactly reading, writing or arithmetic but for environmental studies, 'do you know' is good.

Jolly phonics on YouTube has some good basic information.

Thanks for this post, I was going to ask similar.

Lunde · 18/03/2020 23:07

Said on the bbc news tonight that there will be a educational programme each day for each year group on the i-player. I assume from next week

Educational programming for school children will be increased across iPlayer and the red button, with a daily educational programme for different key stages or year groups. BBC Bitesize will also be expanded

You could ‘teach’ them stuff that they wouldn’t get in the classroom. More inventive play, let them play with toys ( not screens) build dens, play in the garden & get muddy, plant veg & some plants in pots outside, get them to cook or help with their meals, clean out the car, bake, wash, clean, paint walls or the outside walls, steps etc.
Clean the car, board games, more drawing a art. Just send them Off for an hour or more in the house/garden and ignore them...
read to them with them, and get the to learn their time tables.

Jespers · 18/03/2020 23:11

Watch old movies, and get out more ( while we can) go to the beach, the fields, the park, the mountains, the forest...

Teach your monster to read app was a really good introduction to phonics and has levels for more confident readers.
Our school uses readings eggs but they have a subscription I'm not sure on individual prices.

Immunitysucks · 19/03/2020 03:32

Thanks for setting this up, OP.
There may be some links on the Home Ed section part within the ‘Education’ part of MN too.

cantfindausername2 · 19/03/2020 03:34

I'm not sure if you have access to studyladder in the UK, but we use this with our kids.

Sumdog, for maths and spelling games.
Www.busythings.co.uk - does loads of stuff from really basic letter formation and counting games to times tables games and geography.

february08baby · 19/03/2020 20:33

is there anything Scottish specific?

Also, the challenge is getting the kids to do it and not moan to go out and play (or have other kids knocking on the door)

Inmyivorytower · 19/03/2020 20:38

I love the way the OP didn’t bother to state an age range. But then, all MNetter’s children seem very advanced.

heymammy · 19/03/2020 20:40

Sundog is ace and really good fun for maths games
