to be annoyed with Amazon over non-delivery

I had two parcels which Amazon say were delivered today but weren't, I'm now in the online chat with them and they have told me this:

Sometimes the packages are marked as delivered before they actually arrive. I would request you to wait till Friday, 20 March 2020 because most of the times the order are delivered on the next business day.

WTF?!

Of course u are being unreasonable. There is a global epidemic. Your parcel is late or lost? Get a grip.

Dreamersandwishers · 18/03/2020 19:20

Well it may not be right that they do that, but it seems it’s true - I apparently had something delivered yesterday - queried it - lo & behold it’s arrived today.
My guess it has something to do with missing prime targets - someone doesn’t get paid if it’s not on-time.

adaline · 18/03/2020 19:24

Just wait until Friday.

mnthrowaway202020 · 18/03/2020 19:26

It’s standard advice for lost mail, they have to wait a certain amount of time to declare it lost as it may resurface

buzz91 · 18/03/2020 19:35

Sometimes they have so many parcels that they’ll mark some as delivered to finish their day and add them on to deliveries the next day or the day after depending on demand - which I imagine is high atm

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 19:41

I had the same. They had, in fact, mis-delivered it to the wrong office. As soon as it hadn't shown up in my office the next day I demanded a refund. I had to ask about 49 times, and explained it was a gift and I'd had to get the intended recipient something else, so I didn't want a replacement. They refunded me. They said it would take 7 days or I could have Amazon vouchers immediately (sly), but I said I'd wait for the money which arrived the next day. A kindly person from the next door office then delivered my parcel to me.

Top and bottom of it it that they shouldn't say 'delivered' if it might not have been delivered. I couldn't believe this as their response. That's their defense - that they've probably misinformed you!

DameXanaduBramble · 18/03/2020 19:42

I don't think I’ve read such monumentally stupid posts all in one day before. Are you living under a rock?

Lunde · 18/03/2020 19:44

I read yesterday that Amazon was prioritising medical parcels plus many staff must be off

Onemorehitandillcrumble · 18/03/2020 19:44

Agree. Some poor bloke has probably been working from sun up for a per parcel target he’s been unable to hit. See if it arrives tomorrow.

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 19:50

Dame If it's that their workforce is weakened or demands are too high because of CV, then they can say so. But they've been cocking up tons of deliveries since way before CV showed its face. Not all the problems in the world are caused by the pandemic, and nor do all threads have to be a discussion about it.

There's a whole CV topic on MN, if that's what you want to talk about. But don't call conversations about other things 'stupid' - it highlights your mental aptitude more than anyone else's.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 18/03/2020 19:51

Is your world ending if the parcel doesn't come until Friday? If not, just wait the 2 while days and then chase up if you need to.

fsmmum · 18/03/2020 19:51

If they can't deliver it then they should say so - what they shouldn't do is lie about it having been delivered so I am searching the garden and asking neighbours if they have had it and so on.

Don’t be so fucking patronising.

DameXanaduBramble · 18/03/2020 19:52

@eckhart

Alwaysreadyforbed · 18/03/2020 19:53

You have to wait a week before doing anything. Makes sense to me.

Remingtonsteeleswife · 18/03/2020 19:53

You being a selfish mare has nothing to do with corona virus.
Wait for your parcel. They are delivering important stuff.

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 19:54

@DameXanaduBramble Wow, you really are a worthy poster.

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 19:57

It's neither selfish nor anything to do with CV that Amazon deliberately lie, by telling people their parcel has been delivered when it hasn't.

We don't know that OP's parcel wasn't medical supplies.

fsmmum · 18/03/2020 19:59

It's an important parcel, yes. I need it urgently and don't appreciate their lies - they have done this before when the CV hadn't even been heard of it it's nothing to do with it. I've now been told that (even though we were in all day) that the Royal Mail driver didn't want to leave the package unattended.

It's true, this often happens to me (London). Don't panic. It's not even Coronavirus related

Crispsareafoodgroup · 18/03/2020 20:12

Shop somewhere else if it keeps happening.

MasakaBuzz · 18/03/2020 20:12

I think their tracking goes a bit wonky at the moment. They are assuring me that even though something I ordered is late, it’s on its way, but I can have a refund if I want.

It actually arrived several days ago....!!!

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 20:15

Their tracking is often wonky!

Gingerkittykat · 18/03/2020 20:15

My sister works in an Amazon warehouse, they are stupidly busy with people being asked to work 60 hours (she is nightshift) but not the compulsory overtime yet like they had at Christmas. They have also given staff a £2 pay rise for the next little while.

She said they might be moving to essential deliveries only, but not happened yet.

I know I've been buying more from Amazon, including a big parcel of cat supplies from Amazon Pantry which arrived yesterday.

I have no idea if they have the ability to increase their delivery network to match demand right now so be patient with everyone involved.

AutumnRose1 · 18/03/2020 20:19

There’s an error.

Calm down already.
