Inspired by a colleague who turned up to a call in his v. low cut dressing gown, hairy chest and all not realising video was enabled!

Anyone else got any funny stories to share?

We have a Teams call every week and I have now perfected NOT eye rolling and hiding behind a BIG coffee cup when smirking

We have secret competitions to see who can make other members of the call laugh out loud while the boss is droning on

Hooray for this thread! Been ages since I’ve read a funny one!

I will be hopefully doing my first Skype meeting next week. I have been taking notes lol! My cat is likely to join in by jumping on my lap! If the toddler is home, it will be chaos!

I once had a Skype interview but I must have made some kind of error with the camera settings, and for the entire interview it kept zooming in and out on my forehead. What's more, my interviewer was wearing a Christmas jumper.

Last week a colleague dialled in to our weekly meeting without realising she had left a set of MASSIVE rollers in. She caught sight of herself and said "oh fuck I forgot about those" as I snorted.

My old dog - sadly gone now - regularly made guest audio appearances on conference calls with her uncontrollable barking. I now have a new puppy, so I suspect he will also guest star in my forthcoming multiple Teams calls...

Our greyhound is now becoming a source of amusement for DH's work - everyone else has dogs and cats that pop up randomly and move - every time one does, we have an update on our greyhound - still upside down on the sofa. Rumours are starting that the dog's dead.

Yesterday in background my dd loudly shouting... "stop that we don't eat other people's poo.. Do we.. I've told you before.."

I thought I was on mute...

Many Skype messages about what was going on in my house...

It was ddog 3 who likes ddog1and2's poo as a snack.

We have weekly team meetings on Skype too. They are incredibly boring so a couple of us try and make each other laugh by communicating by whatapp too.

During one particularly boring update from our manager my colleague messaged me asking had my screen frozen as I hadn't moved once in 10 minutes.

I genuinely laughed out loud, well it was a guffaw really! My manager stopped and asked if I was ok, I lied quickly and said I was laughing because my dog had just farted!!

Not my finest moment!

ExServiceWoman · 18/03/2020 20:57

This is so true
If you make regular Skype calls!

TheMostHappy · 18/03/2020 21:06

One of my colleagues left himself off mute this morning - let out a massive fart as he bent down to pet his dog - and then blamed the dog because the conversation stopped. I may or may not have let out a snort, but I was on mute so Halo

Microsoft Teams has a blur background option....

MrsGrindah · 18/03/2020 21:25

@Peccary I’m just crying at that image!

lastqueenofscotland · 18/03/2020 21:28

Line manager thought it muted himself on a call, and let rip the most incredible, earth moving fart. Hilarious.

MrsGrindah · 18/03/2020 21:29

To all you Skype virgins out there...watch out fir bloody Alexa! She loves joining in!

picklemewalnuts · 18/03/2020 21:39

Ha great thread! I don't know how much we'll get done- the internet crawls with two of us working from home, and the dog barks at passing pigeons.

BlueJava · 18/03/2020 21:41

Tuesday this week a guy took a massively long and noisy slash whilst on a call. Thank god video was not enabled.

choccyfiend78 · 18/03/2020 21:58

I work online so all calls and meetings are through Skype or zoom but we don't use video as a rule. On one occasion I was meeting a new subcontracting team as I was taking over from someone else as their liaison and they all used video so started popping up like the Brady bunch on my screen!!

We used to have a time logging program though that took webcam shots of you randomly to make sure it was you working and not someone else doing it for you. I live in a warm country so in the summer will take the laptop outside and wear a strapless top. Or at least I did until I realised that my webcam headshots made me look naked!!GrinBlushShock

Angelnix · 18/03/2020 22:56

These are brilliant!

OhioOhioOhio · 18/03/2020 23:04

This makes me cringe.
