Inspired by a colleague who turned up to a call in his v. low cut dressing gown, hairy chest and all not realising video was enabled!

Anyone else got any funny stories to share?

TheSecondMrsAshwell that is AWFUL Shock

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/03/2020 12:14

We'd be remiss not to include the BBC news video call incident of all time!

Nquartz · 18/03/2020 12:27

We had our first 'team meeting' today, about 15 of us, shambles! Everyone talking at once, actually no work done. One woman doing her eyelashes 🤣 lots of dressing gowns but full face of make up.

Luckily I wear glasses so no need for make up!

crapette · 18/03/2020 12:33

the nanny frantically trying to drag him back out,

You mean his wife!

HathorX · 18/03/2020 12:36

TheSecondMrsAshwell this is the funniest thing I've read in months!

I was going to post about my colleague who learned the hard way that his wireless headset for some inexplicable reason unmutes itself when he moves too far from his laptop... we all heard the result of when he took a leak during a very long meeting. He was absolutely mortified.

ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo · 18/03/2020 12:43

My cat likes to join in on calls, but only when others are talking. It leads to me frantically shushing him, only for others to think I'm being inexplicably rude and shushing them. Blush

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 18/03/2020 12:49

Our cat likes to lie on DH chest with her head tucked against his chin. All of his colleagues regularly hear her purring or snoring down the mic of his headset, or him telling her off for running over the desk or headbutting him for ear scratches.

SunshineAvenue · 18/03/2020 12:54

Living these. Hoping for more over the next few weeks

dellacucina · 18/03/2020 13:01

These are brilliant

TurtleCavalryIsSeriousShit · 18/03/2020 13:01

I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I don't know he is and I shouldn't have assumed. I'm sorry

I was on a conference Skype call and the Dog found a squeaky toy.

She was doing laps round the table, loudly & continually squeaking while I was subtly trying to grab her every time she did a pass!

She is much quicker than me (whippet)- so it turned into a great game. She was practically grinning at me. My colleague was pissing himself laughing.

I don't mind if she is quiet and she will often pop her head up to look at the screen- but the squeaking.....Jeezus!

All squeakers have now been confiscated.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/03/2020 13:21

@Dylanpickle,

Grin Can just picture that!

Loving this thread. Well done, all.

Talking to a customer over Skype, I deal with antisocial behaviour so not always easy calls and in wanders my son telling me all about the dinosaur fact file he just drew (tbf it was very impressive) luckily my customer on the phone was very understanding & we had a good laugh Grin

LemonRedwood · 18/03/2020 14:06

These are so funny Grin

PalindromicUser · 18/03/2020 14:15

Both my DC have made semi-naked, unscheduled cameo appearances in VC team meetings for me and DH now. They seem to delight in stripping to their underpants before rushing in and asking “WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO???!!!”

Florin · 18/03/2020 14:18

Dh only had to log into the first bit of a conference call as each member was just giving a quick update of their project. He did it from our bedroom as we live in the country and the signal is crap but best in the bedroom. He finished his bit and said he had signed off at which point I pointed out that the bed didn’t look right at the end and we investigated and it was broken. He said it must of been us having sex on that bit last night. Then he realised everyone else could here our conversation too as he hadn’t logged off!

Capodimonte · 18/03/2020 14:23

I work from home so meetings are always online. One time my son kept telling me he needed a poo and I was trying to discretely point him out the room as I knew we were coming to the end of the meeting anyway. The meeting ended with one of the managers saying "I best let you all go now as I know Capodimonte's child is deperate for a poo" I now keep my mic muted unless I have something to add to the meeting

Peccary · 18/03/2020 16:36

Daughter threw her sippy cup right at my head mid call as she was bored watching cartoons and wanted my attention. I no longer join meetings on my day off

I'm not sure if this counts but in the corner shop yesterday I saw a guy in a very smart looking dress shirt, and pajama bottoms! I assume he'd been on some kind of skype call.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 18/03/2020 16:59

I am teaching from home and showed my students a photo. I tried to enlarge it but somehow just managed to go back in the camera roll and showed them some family photos. Make sure you don't have any dodgy photos on your computer!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/03/2020 17:42

I flashed my boobs once at my line manager's manager. I overslept and dialled into a conference call sleepily, not realising I had video enabled, whilst still in bed. Luckily the manager in question is a woman and found it hilarious.

iklboo · 18/03/2020 17:45

Boss' cat stalked up to the laptop turned round and showed us all its bum hole. Then stood on something and terminated the meeting.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/03/2020 17:46

I'm very new to video calls but elderly MIL has just got a Portal.
DH and I love her to bits but we do have to keep reminding each other that you can't get away with rolling your eyes when on a video call!

CrimsonCattery · 18/03/2020 19:30

My boss' cats regularly meow loudly during calls but surpassed themselves today with a loud crash followed by her berating them on a large group call.
