To think there will be a baby boom in the next 10 - 12 months

With social distancing and people staying at home more over the next few months I think this is inevitable. I don't think there are generally enough school places etc at present to cope with this though the government will need to figure this out in a few years if it happens.

I would just be happy to fall pregnant following TTC for a long time.

Mrhodgeymaheg · 17/03/2020 11:45

I lack a libido at the best of times. Having to WFH, plus entertain/home school son while looking after a baby, and then worry about finances and the world going to ruin neither makes me want to bring a baby in to the world nor do the thing that makes that possible.

Mrhodgeymaheg · 17/03/2020 11:47

The whole LTB retort isn't going to work now is it, since you can't if you are in quarantine?

Mrhodgeymaheg · 17/03/2020 11:50

SIFTB - Self isolate from the bastard instead of LTB?

Sorry if that is too lighthearted. I can assure everyone I am bricking it as much as they are. Just think we need to divert attention away sometimes. I watched my fave comedy on TV right now (This Country) last night and it felt like a 2 week holiday after seeing Corona virus updates everywhere.

Honeybee85 · 17/03/2020 11:53

I think normally yes there would be.

But with this virus, causing huge financial uncertainty for so many and with official advice to pregnant women to be very cautious? No I don’t think there will be. I was thinking today that I would definitely postpone TTC now if I was trying for a second baby.

JuanSheetIsPlenty

It’s interesting that you’re telling me not to care what other people think whilst telling me what you think. You know nothing about me so please sod off with your opinion of me. I have anxiety so telling me to not care will not help but thanks for your ‘advice’.

lynsey91 · 17/03/2020 12:00

No one with any sense would think about having a baby at the moment. The future is too uncertain.

Also if mother nature has decided the population needs to be reduced (and it does) how stupid to increase it again

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 17/03/2020 15:27

It wasn’t an opinion of you. It was a description of your behaviour. It is ridiculous to worry about people thinking your baby is one of a boom generation. It’s doesnt affect your life in any way whether they do or don’t.

PonteLaCorona · 17/03/2020 16:12

Not here. Given I am one of the few people allowed in an isolation room with someone with COVID19, no-one I love is getting near me Sad

Also, last years username choice it not looking so good in current climates Blush

Riiiight..... try saying that to people who have had the heartbreak of trying to conceive for a long time.

Percypopper · 17/03/2020 18:59

I reckon you’re right OP

missyoumuch · 18/03/2020 01:57

I would think if you'd been struggling to conceive you'd be particularly wary of being pregnant during an unprecedented viral outbreak.

lynsey91 · 18/03/2020 11:06

Also shouldn't your child's future and well being be more important than your want of a child?

Iwalkinmyclothing · 18/03/2020 11:13

Only if people are even more daft than I thought.

You'd have to be a bit odd to think, yes, now is the time to have a baby. Even if you've been struggling TTC for years, surely as things are now and as they are expected to be over the coming 12-18 months, you wouldn't want to?
