My shopping got delivered to the wrong address

My shopping got delivered to the wrong address, and I'm so upset about it! Was really looking forward to it. They told me what the person looked like and the colour of their door.. honestly she took all those bags knowing that the shopping wasn't for her, it just baffles me. How can you do that? I've had takeaway drivers try to deliver food that was meant for my neighbours or someone else but always told them I didn't order it. Some people are just scum. Been doing online shopping for years now and most drivers call if they can't find my house.. but this idiot driver aghhh I'm so pissed off 😡

And you with the white door, if you're reading this then shame on you!

Do you have a local FB page to rant on? I'd try and get more of an idea of what the actual address was I could t let it lie!! So wrong! You could have been disabled or elderly and been relying on that delivery! Not that you weren't relying on it but it could have been a lot worse for someone. Some people have no morals just hope you ordered some obscure shit that gives them the shits.

CaptainButtock · 14/03/2020 13:56

I’d be going round to the same number house on surrounding streets. If it had a white door, I’d knock and ask.
Should be fairly easy to spot who is baffled by the question and who panics/gets defensive.
Then again, I suppose if they don’t live on their own they could think their other half ordered it?

Februarycat · 14/03/2020 14:07

I wonder how she signed the delivery in her own name or yours. I have Sainsburys delivery and you have to sign the electronic device when you have a delivery, just wondered if they could get a name off that.

I once got someone else's delivery, in with mine, it was only when I unpacking it and noticed a lot of meat & frozen items, which I had not ordered, so I rang them up and told them and they collected it as the person had rung to say it was missing, it was just on the next street.

Sparklesocks · 14/03/2020 14:09

What a cheeky cow! Some people really don’t have any morals do they

BeyondMyWits · 14/03/2020 14:09

Every other week a delivery driver for Tesco try to drop off the shopping for CLOSE instead of AVENUE - EVERY other week!!! I send him on his merry way - every time.

They deliver to me too, on a different day.

people must think I get through a lot of shopping! But I can see why you might just take it in if you were also a customer and forgot when you ordered for.

Neptunesgiraffe · 14/03/2020 14:09

My shopping got delivered to the house opposite once. I saw the van arrive and unload it and the teenage daughter accepted it and signed for it. The driver then went. I did think it was strange, but he was back 2 minutes later having realised his mistake and he brought the shopping from across the road. I wasn't annoyed as I know my neighbours and it was a genuine mistake by both the delivery man and the teenager. But maybe something similar happened and the door was answered by a relative of the owner or similar and they didn't realise.

DoSomethingBob · 14/03/2020 14:10

I once got someone else’s order along with mine. My husband had done the order so I didn’t actually notice. Thought he’d been a bit indulgent but it was only when the delivery driver came racing back for it that I realised. 😂

midwestspring · 14/03/2020 14:13

I had some of someone else's shopping delivered with mine.
I contacted company when I realized but they couldn't take it back due to safety.
So I ended up with their shopping.
All Whole Foods shopping is delivered in large brown bags.
Maybe she was expecting an order?

Fuckyoumorrisons · 14/03/2020 14:18

I don't know why but you don't sign with Morrison's, only signed once when I ordered some calpol lol but never since

Hope they sort something out. There are zero delivery slots available for Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose where I live for two weeks.

goingoverground · 14/03/2020 14:19

she took all those bags knowing that the shopping wasn't for her, it just baffles me

I could easily see this happening in my home if the DC/DM/cleaner/au pair answered the door and I wasn't there. They would just assume it was our order and I had forgotten to tell them.

JumpingFrogs · 14/03/2020 14:21

I received a couple of extra bags along with my large Ocado shop. Some very good quality steaks, smoked salmon, expensive wine, clotted cream etc. I rang Ocado but they told me the driver was too far away so I could keep it. On another occasion I was in the bath when delivery came, so my husband took it in. It didn't occur to him that instead of my usual large delivery (family of six) there were just 3 small bags, so he hasn't questioned it. No idea what happened to the rest of it but Ocado refunded and I had to drag myself off to the supermarket.

Reginabambina · 14/03/2020 14:23

For all you know the woman who took it was also waiting on a delivery or took it assuming her husband has ordered. I’ve done similar before and had to go round asking neighbours whether that was their deliveroo/whatever after realising that no one in the house had ordered it. Also, it’s just groceries, not your grandma’s ashes. Calm down.

ForeverbyJudyBlume · 14/03/2020 14:37

A friend's Christmas delivery was signed for by the nanny of her VERY famous neighbour, by the time the mix-up was realised most of the food had gone and it was too late to order another one before Christmas day

AnneOfCloves · 14/03/2020 14:38

I do the ordering but am often not the one receiving it, so that could easily happen here.

We once got a crate of someone else's shopping delivered with ours. Son didn't know (how would he) and put it all away. I only realised when I found some items in the fridge and cupboards that aren't things I buy. Couldn't identify everything that got misdelivered. Supermarket didn't care.

HazelBite · 14/03/2020 14:46

To all those saying just book another delivery, good luck with that!

I tried to do an online shop this morning the first delivery/ available slot I can get is Monday March 23rd!
Normally I do my online shop on a Sunday to be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday!

Lynda07 · 14/03/2020 14:58

That's a horrible thing to happen and even more awful that your shopping hasn't been redelivered to you by whoever took it in. However, won't the shop reimburse you or arrange another delivery?

I've not had any problems with grocery deliveries so far and live in hope. Had two during the week and another one due on Monday so will let you know if anything goes wrong.

A pain for you at the moment though, sorry to hear.

MrsLindor · 14/03/2020 15:30

The Ocado App has pretty much died this week and the website is struggling with all the extra orders and extra large orders. They're only accepting orders from existing customers, so I imagine they're all struggling.

KatherineJaneway · 14/03/2020 15:35

Agree, Ocado are seriously struggling.

viccat · 14/03/2020 15:55

Something similar happened to me today - I had an Amazon Fresh delivery due today and got an email to say it couldn't be delivered because no one was at home. I was about 2 metres away from my front door all through the delivery time so clearly they must have tried the wrong house.

Amazon has refunded but now I can't get those items again - lots of things like cat litter, handcream etc. out of stock everywhere and was really looking forward to some of the items in the order too. Sad

Cissyandflora · 14/03/2020 16:17

I did once get an extra bag of shopping with my Ocado. I was so happy. Felt a tiny bit bad for the rightful owner but I kept it. It was a great choice of products.

dottiedodah · 14/03/2020 16:19

Where we live similar sounding road names ,ie Rosebud Road ,Bluebell Drive etc .Delivery guy on step 8 pm on a Friday a few years ago .Had all his crates out piled up by my door! Looked well pissed off and crestfallen when I told him wrong road!

cochineal7 · 14/03/2020 16:21

It might have been a cleaner taking in the order. Or someone who thought her partner had ordered. I wouldn’t necessarily think the woman was a thief.

Whattodo1610 · 14/03/2020 16:29

It’s not theft .... suppose someone in the family took delivery, assuming husband/wife/mum/dad had ordered it, not knowing it wasn’t actually their shopping. Or they had ordered and were expecting a delivery, but got the wrong order delivered?

You’re assuming they knowingly took shopping that wasn’t for them ... that may not be the case.

Fantasiaa · 14/03/2020 16:29

So angry for you!
Why would anybody take someone else shopping ‘
