To go get baby’s movements checked out?

Some might sigh to read this and say ‘just go’ but I’m wondering if I’m just being a hypochondriac. I’m 34 weeks tomorrow and the past two days I haven’t noticed as many movements, and they’re not as strong either. However yesterday I slept in late, and was taken straight out for my surprise baby shower and didn’t get home til late. I put my straps on and felt some movement, so I stopped worrying. Today they’ve still felt like less, I have felt him but it just doesn’t feel the same. But because I have actually felt him I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. Would IBU to go get checked out or should I stop worrying?

Also, any tips on how to get him moving more?

Please go in OP. Nobody ever thinks somebody is wasting time

Andypandy81 · 09/03/2020 20:54

Glad your going to get checked out . I went in three times with reduced movements. The third time I’m especially glad as I had pre eclampsia. Not once did anyone ever say I was wasting time . After losing two pregnancies I wasn’t taken chances. Trust your instincts.

MadeForThis · 09/03/2020 20:58

Any change in movement needs checked. Glad you went in.

My consultant gave me a proper telling off when I dropped into conversation I'd not felt my baby move much that afternoon. I didn't really think anything of it and, as it happened he was just having a lazy day and all was fine but she was a very busy consultant and she took time to go and find me a bed and a midwife/nurse to check me out. You're never wasting anyone's time - they want to make sure all is ok

CandleFlames · 09/03/2020 21:02

I’m here now and have been on the monitor for 25 minutes in which I have only felt him move once and it was very small. They keep reassuring me that everything looks fine on the monitor but I don’t feel like it is. He would normally kick loads just at the sound of the monitor

Glad you’re getting checked

You are in the right place. Sending you support and hoping all turns out well...listening to your mama instincts is rule number 1. My boys wouldn't be here if I hadn't (pair of 28 weekers just turned 1). If you can please do let us know how you get on.

Passthewinebottle · 09/03/2020 21:15

Hoping all is ok OP xxxxx

strawberry2017 · 09/03/2020 21:18

Never hesitate to go in. You did the right thing. X

Cheerbear23 · 09/03/2020 21:19

Hope everything is ok, please do insist on a scan if you aren’t reassured.

Whatsername177 · 09/03/2020 21:20

Do not go home until you are happy he is fine. His heart rate is obviously steady which is good. My dds wasnt, which is why they induced.

Thescrewinthetuna · 09/03/2020 21:22

Do not be fobbed off if you’re still concerned. Good luck

thenightfury · 09/03/2020 21:23

Always go. Just always. My DS never bloody moved sat at home, I was always in and out the assessment unit and I remember once crying to a midwife that I felt I was forever being a hypochondriac as he always moved on the monitors (I didn't always feel it) she told me very firmly that they'd rather have me up here using a monitor for an hour than sat at home with a potentially sick baby and no one knowing! You're not wasting anyone's time xx

Darbs76 · 09/03/2020 21:25

You must go. I’m on kicks count page and it’s not just no kicks that warrants going in but a change in movement

Mutedgrey · 09/03/2020 21:27

Hope everything is ok

JustHavinABreak · 09/03/2020 21:38

Do NOT leave until you're completely happy that he's ok. You're his voice so if he needs to be heard and they're not listening, then shout louder. Ask for a scan to be sure that the cord is in the right place. The best of us emerged fighting at 34 weeks and 40 years later are here to tell the tale 😁

Bananacloud · 10/03/2020 07:17

I hope all is well OP

twins2019 · 10/03/2020 07:20

All okay OP?

ShirleyPhallus · 10/03/2020 07:21

I put my straps on and felt some movement, so I stopped worrying

What are straps?

Glad you went and hope all is ok

Gigglebert · 10/03/2020 07:23

Really hope you are doing ok. My boy arrived at 34 weeks after reduced movements. Glad you went in!x

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 10/03/2020 07:39

They always make you go in for reduced movement but don't they send you home repeatedly and if you keep coming with reduced movement it's only then that they do something??

CandleFlames · 10/03/2020 13:52

Hi everyone, sorry we didn’t get home until midnight last night and I went straight to bed. They did a bedside scan and said they ‘think’ baby is okay but he was barely moving on the scan, saw some little movements but that was it. And over the space of an hour on that monitor I probably felt about 10 kicks. I still didn’t feel that reassured so they have booked me in for a scan at 3:45 today to check the blood flow. But once again today baby’s movements are slow, I’ve felt a couple but nothing like normal. Really hoping everything is alright :(

Hope everything is ok. You go in as many times as you feel you need to. Don't worry about wasting anyone's time.

YouSetTheTone · 10/03/2020 14:53

I hope the scan goes well today op

Crunchymum · 10/03/2020 14:57
