Quite a pricey one but a snack nonetheless. Not ham that’s earmarked for sandwiches etc.

It's NOT about calories!

Anyway, OP has disappeared. YY, a boiled egg is really great and the chicken. IMO.

II have been ill, under a nutritionist, I know what I've been told... I need to put on calories. Not lose them.

Processed ham is not great. (Unless crazy active on the go. THAT was my point, please do let it go now)

PhoneLock · 06/03/2020 20:24

depends as others say, on how big the packet is and how much shit is in it.

I've never bought a pack of ham with shit in it.

I mean, why would you? Confused

sonjadog · 06/03/2020 20:25

That cheese and ham in the microwave thing sounds great. I will definitely be trying that one out.

MamaFlintstone · 06/03/2020 20:26

It was one of my go-to snacks when trying to cut down on carbs.

NameNumber6 · 06/03/2020 20:26

I want ham now Envy

BillieEilish · 06/03/2020 20:29

God, has nobody ever in what is in processed ham? It's hardly real meat. Full of salt and additives.

This thread is not for me.

Eat what you like OP. Hope it's naice ham. That would be fine. IMO.

RoyalChocolat · 06/03/2020 20:30

It is my usual snack.

Only with a gerkin sliced in half lengthways in the middle of it. Adds a good crunch. Works with wafer thin chicken nicely too.

GameSetMatch · 06/03/2020 20:38

It could be a snack if you’re not worried about your salt intake I suppose, not one I’d fancy but I’ve eaten worse for a snack.

Emmapeeler1 · 06/03/2020 20:43

I agree @BillieEilish

A pack of processed ham would not be my choice of snack, for a variety of reasons, not just because it doesn't appeal to me!

I also feel this thread is probably not for me though.

Wilkie1956mog · 06/03/2020 20:44

A snack can be anything you happen to fancy. Why not?

Mammyloveswine · 06/03/2020 20:52

Ooh sliced ham with pease pudding and rolled up is lush!

AlexaAmbidextra · 06/03/2020 20:55

Years ago M&S used to do, in their party food range, ham & cheese whirls. Lean ham wrapped around soft cheese. They were the food of the Gods and I could eat a whole pack of, I think, twelve. I’m distraught that they no longer make them.

sonjadog · 06/03/2020 21:29

Lean ham wrapped around soft cheese sounds like something it wouldn't be hard to make yourself though?

Serin · 06/03/2020 21:44

17 year old DS was very proud of his sandwich at lunch time which he made with a whole pack of ham and a whole pack of turkey. So about £7 for one butty!!Hmm

Megan2018 · 06/03/2020 21:47

I regularly eat a whole packet!
But we have quite small packets (only buy outdoor reared stuff).
When I had gestational diabetes I had to add protein to bloody everything- it has stuck! Great at keeping weight off though.

trotesio · 06/03/2020 21:47

Ugh. Ham belongs on a pizza. Not as snack.

BarbaraofSeville · 06/03/2020 22:07

Of course, anything can be a snack but, as you acknowledge, ham is an expensive one.

Processed salty meat isn't great to be eating in quantity, as I'm sure you're aware, but it depends on how your overall diet is as to whether this is an issue.

To help with the cost, both Aldi and Lidl (I think) sell 400 g packs of ham trim for less than £2, which is quite naice ham, but not nice even slices, I think it's the ends of ham joints that have been sliced up.

I saw it recommended on here and had never noticed it, because it's in value labelling and I don't normally look at value meat, but it's some of the best quality ham you can get in supermarkets, outside the finest type ranges. A bit tricky for sliced bread sandwiches, but brilliant for adding to pasta bakes, salads or similar, and also suitable for snacking.

Apolloanddaphne · 06/03/2020 22:33

If you are low carbing ham is a great snack.
