I see a lot of comments about social class "la di daaa"

So I'm curious to which class you would all place yourselves?

Honestly?

I'm from a LC background but I'm wealthy now from my own hard work and live in a MN area from what I've gathered (Chiswick) but I definitely don't fit in with these "mums" I still prefer having my friends from council estates in hounslow over Smile

So what social classes are you from? And please be naice GrinWink

The only upper class people I knew described themselves as being on the poverty line. Hundreds of thousands in the bank, a portfolio of investment properties in the SE, imported teas, private schools, but ate "hot buttered toast" for dinner as they were poor and all clothes from charity shops. In their spare time they drove around the country to art galleries and tea houses. Constantly lamenting about wasting money and having to be frugal.

@housinghelp101 Tbh these days I think a lot of it is also more to do with the manners, education, interests and values then money these days as it you get more people that rise to fame get rich etc but had a very different upbringing then other people with as much money as they do

This is sometimes something I think about as I have no.idea. I grew up very poor but educated and child of a religious minster. Now I earn very good money for outside London and manage people around the world in a huge company. Live in a big house in a nice area but in a poorish ex.minning town. I don't have much if a social circle due to living overseas for many years and being a bit of an odd one out where ever I go. I sometimes feel a straddle two classes but don't fit in either of them.

@lovepickledlimes yes they had a very distinctive set of manners. It was very annoying though when my friend would say my single mum had it easy as we got a takeaway every Saturday night. That to them was the height of being rich, and they were bloody loaded but felt they were on the bare bones of their buttocks. If they wanted to splash out on an extravagant meal they would make a cheese toastie!

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/03/2020 15:04

Cheese on toast because you can’t afford a takeaway doesn’t really jibe with specially imported teas...

housinghelp101 · 07/03/2020 15:06

Exactly this, I have no idea why they felt they were so poor and lived like that, when they were not only asset rich but had loads of money in the bank too. They had very odd priorities with what money they were willing to spend!

I'm part of the underclass. I became too unwell to work as a teenager so have been on benefits my entire life.

I'm underclass

Along with the criminals and degenerates of society
