Your gas and electric - how much?

I moved to a 3 bed terrace last year. Band B council tax. We started at £99 month for gas and electric but I fell behind. Now we’re on £149 but I’m still cold, often.
How much does it cosy to keep a cosy home? I’m living under sofa blankets here.

£150 per month combined. Your heating bill also depends on the temperature setting. I also would recommend shopping around because last year NPower attempted to switch us to a plan that would charge nearly £300 for the same amount of energy used! I found another provider!

5 bed detached, old, damp house. I pay €65 per month for electricity and €95 per month for gas (heating and hot water). I usually get a rebate for both as I work away a lot, so there is nobody at home.
The amounts are manageable, but would be lower for a more energy-efficient house.

Too much, £115 a month via direct debit based on estimates. We are supposed to he getting a handheld device for the smart meter so that we get more accurate bills but Scottish power are rubbish.

2 bed terrace. British Gas. Bills for February Gas 81 elec 38, thermostat set for 20 degrees during day, turned down to 18 overnight. We live in Hampshire

£35 a month for gas and electric - a bit more in winter and a bit less in summer, but on average £35pcm for a 3 bed semi. (Hate where we live but that's another story!!)

I'm with Bulb, my costs have dramatically reduced since switching to them. I have a link that gives you £50 credit (I get £50 too) if anyone did fancy trying them:

£90 with bulb

DonnaDarko · 02/03/2020 18:49

the thermostat is on 22-23 degrees, 24 hours a day

I grew up in Barbados and this still sounds insanely hot to me

HoHoHolyCow · 02/03/2020 18:53

Three bed semi and we pay £86 per month for gas and electricity. We're with bulb and just had an email to say our bill will be reducing by £75 per year, which is nice!

Mydogatemypurse · 02/03/2020 18:57

I pay £95 a month for both. I try not to have heating on if I can help it between march and sep. But if it's too cold I do.
4 bed large old house. But with central heating double glazing and new boiler.
If I'm cooking something like a roast where the oven is on for a while I try and cook other stuff at the same time for lunches for work etc.
When the boys stay at their dads I wont put the heating on and just use the coal fire for a bit in the evening. (I have a couple of massive bags that was donated to me by friends when they moved house) I'll put an extra duvet on the bed.
I do have the washing machine on most days and or dryer and I use the slow cooker a lot. I dry my hair and straighten it twice a week and we have one tv and no I pads. I do charge my phone and laptop tho.

Mydogatemypurse · 02/03/2020 18:58

Wow. I've never even heard of bulb. Those prices are unreal

Namechangeforthegamechange · 02/03/2020 18:58

My gas is £115 and elec £280. We did fall behind for a bit not massively though. I literally can’t afford it

Mydogatemypurse · 02/03/2020 19:06
