YABU - Cream then jam
YANBU - Jam then Cream

OP posts:
ShatnersWig · 01/03/2020 23:26

Butter, no jam, no cream.

And plain scones only, no fruit or cheese ones.

morriseysquif · 01/03/2020 23:28

The cream takes the place of the butter so cream first then jam.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 01/03/2020 23:33

YABU because I can’t get clotted cream here [sob]

Jollitwiglet · 01/03/2020 23:36

No jam! Just butter and cream

morriseysquif · 01/03/2020 23:38

@D4rwin. You love to live don't you! Grin Grin Grin.

Every day - not ideal

For a treat - the best, give it a go!

CornishYarg · 01/03/2020 23:38

My user name makes it pretty clear which way I have voted - jam then cream!

WonderWoman36 · 01/03/2020 23:42

Cut in half, clotted cream, then jam on each side, eat separately.

Propagandalf · 01/03/2020 23:48

This isn't really an YABU or YANBU. It depends on how you were brought up.

Cornwall - jam before cream
Devon - cream before jam

I've been to Devon far more times than Cornwall, so the Devonian way is more familiar to me than Cornish.

Gillian1980 · 01/03/2020 23:50

I’m Devonian so eat it the correct way.

DH is Cornish so does the jam first.

Our daughter doesn’t like scone!!!! 😲

Don’t get us started on pronunciation of scone....

madcatladyforever · 01/03/2020 23:51

I don't care how you eat it as long as you don't pronounce it scone to rhyme with stone. That's a capital offence.

TheoneandObi · 02/03/2020 00:19

Jam first. But then again I am a Cornish maid

ActualHornist · 02/03/2020 00:27

Don’t care. Tastes the same either way - but logistically, it’s easier to spread cream first then add a dollop of jam from a spoon.

SuburbanFraggle · 02/03/2020 00:38

Some filthy pp said they don't like them warm. Where can I report this?

TheABC · 02/03/2020 00:42

I just got into a fight with DH about this (Cornish and I should have known better than to ask).

Fresh, warm and slathered with honey and cream, according to him. Jam is the abomination. Hmm

Coulddowithanap · 02/03/2020 00:44

Jam one side, cream the other then sandwich together.

Coldilox · 02/03/2020 00:46

Don’t give a shit as long as my mouth is full of scone, jam and cream

mrsBtheparker · 02/03/2020 00:48

There's no 'right' way, it's however you want it!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 02/03/2020 00:52

Butter, jam then cream.

DeRigueurMortis · 02/03/2020 00:57

I cream then jam.

Simply because I think it's a shame to hide the beautiful colour of the jam under the cream - in short it's an aesthetic preference.

That said I'd not turn one down if jammed then creamed.

SD1978 · 02/03/2020 01:11

Cream first then jam- means the jam is dolloped, and not too sweet. Anything else is a travesty.......

florababy84 · 02/03/2020 01:37

Sorry to freak people out but in Australia we very often use whipped cream on scones. Clotted cream or other spreadable cream is not as widely available. So it's definitely jam then cream!

Megan2018 · 02/03/2020 01:40

Devon here!

Beemail1 · 02/03/2020 05:25

Hoik Do you have recipe for your cheese scones?

Rocketinapocket · 02/03/2020 05:33

Clotted cream first as I can’t see how you put the cream on top of the jam

orangejuicer · 02/03/2020 06:14

YABU. The correct answer is with a cup of tea (or lashings of ginger beer!)
