To be upset that he's Constantly comparing me to his gf?

So my ex husband who I have children with is always making sly digs towards me about how different and better his gf is and it's really getting me down. Last week he said to me that his gf paints her house all by herself without the help of him and why can't I paint my house myself and said I make excuses not to. Then this week he goes on to say that his gf washes her sons ( not his child) uniform every single night and said why can't I wash our sons uniform every single night. He's always making me feel like a failure and that she's better mum than me. I'm just so down and depressed about it.

OP posts:

To add to that, if he was the big provider, he'd pay for a few days worth of uniform, then the wash would be less wasteful.

comesavemenow · 28/02/2020 23:22

Tell him, she has to do it all herself because he is useless and she knows she can't rely on him. May be if helped her once in a while...

WagtailRobin · 28/02/2020 23:23

He's obviously not fulfilling his girlfriend enough if she has the time/inclination to be washing and drying a school uniform every night, which by the way isn't some amazing accolade, everyone knows how to use a washing machine!

He's trying to wind you up, to get under your skin, do not keep falling for it; He is an ex for a reason.

Lynda07 · 28/02/2020 23:29

Just tell him you don't appreciate him comparing you to his girlfriend, it is inappropriate! I'm surprised her can't see that, anybody else will. However if you draw it to his attention he may take note.

Daftodil · 28/02/2020 23:31

She washes it every night? That's not great for the environment and her electricity bills must be through the roof!

She paints the whole house by herself? What do you do while she's doing that? Don't you feel bad not contributing? I hope she enjoys it and isn't just hoping that you'll take the hint and help...not your strong suit, is it?

Nitpickpicnic · 28/02/2020 23:35

‘I’m not surprised she’s self-sufficient, she’s with you after all.’

Big smile, door shut.

Mind you, I’m the sort to add ‘We have so much in common, I really must see when she’s free for a catch-up over coffee. Thanks for the reminder.’

ByeMF · 28/02/2020 23:35

Tell him to eff off. What an absolute dickhead. You are well rid.

WaitrosesCheapestVodka · 28/02/2020 23:37

You don't need his approval, and his opinion of his new girlfriend is irrelevent to you.

It is astonishingly immature for him to behave this way. Try to ignore it and he'll be distracted by some other game in time.

PumpkinP · 28/02/2020 23:38

TBF I wash my kids every night as they always come out of school messy, but that’s abit of a random thing for him to say to you?! Does he think your dcs ones are messy? I don’t get the house thing either, do you ask your ex to help paint it? Anyway I agree with the others I wouldn’t stand around chatting to him long enough for him to say this stuff.

Winterlife · 28/02/2020 23:41

Just respond with “My new man gave me multiple orgasms last night. Why didn’t you ever give me multiple orgasms?” and “My new man earns (double his salary) Why didn’t you ever earn X?

KC225 · 28/02/2020 23:42

What's the betting the new girlfriend will be posting soon about her new man comparing everything she does with his ex wife 'I mean EVERYTHING from decorating to how often I wash MY child's clothes. It's endless, why does he do it' Cue the chorus of LTB, RUN and he is still obsessed with his ex.

At least he is your ex OP.

FortunesFave · 28/02/2020 23:47

Stop talking to him. Seriously...why are you conversing with him?

Text only for arrangements with the children.

ironicname · 28/02/2020 23:49

Start making examples of better men.

pallisers · 28/02/2020 23:50

why on earth are you tolerating this shit? Seriously?

Laugh in his face.

Branleuse · 28/02/2020 23:53

I think id have to ask why on earth he was telling me this as i couldnt honestly give a fuck what either of them do

ChickLitLover · 28/02/2020 23:53

My reply would simply be;

How strange that with being so accomplished at painting and using a washing machine, she has of yet failed to see what a twat you are. Wink

If he’s comparing you, then he’s still thinking of you so my bet is that things aren’t too rosy in his new relationship BUT regardless, it sounds like you have the biggest achievement here in that you no longer have to put up with him in your house.

Butterymuffin · 28/02/2020 23:54

his gf washes her sons ( not his child) uniform every single night and said why can't I wash our sons uniform every single night.

Do they only have one set? I would ask him that in a puzzled fashion.

Actually, don't, to all these questions say 'I guess I'm too busy LIVING THE DREAM now I'm free of you!'

user1471430558 · 28/02/2020 23:59

I think you have to channel (the much hated) Mrs Brown using “that’s nice” to what ever he comes out with re new gf.

Flixsfoilball · 29/02/2020 00:03

Then this week he goes on to say that his gf washes her sons ( not his child) uniform every single night and said why can't I wash our sons uniform every single night.

I'd just respond with 'because it's fucking ridiculous to wash a child's uniform every night 🤷‍♀️'

timetest · 29/02/2020 00:04

Tell him you are concerned that her son only has one set of uniform. As for redecorating your house, that is no longer his concern. He sounds awful, be happy you no longer live him.

Thinkingabout1t · 29/02/2020 00:09

How often does he wash his son’s uniform, OP? Never?
He sounds like a total shit, I’m glad he’s your ex. He’s probably undermining his gf with tales of how brilliant his XW was!

Supersimkin2 · 29/02/2020 00:25

Why isn't he helping her decorate? He won't last long with her either.

Ugzbugz · 29/02/2020 00:25

These responses are brilliant! And very odd why she washes the uniform every night 😂

Pantsomime · 29/02/2020 00:30

I’d be tempted to either grunt “oh yeah?” Or remark “ so honeymoon’s over then!” As a fact rather than question or you could pretend you’d not heard any of it

MadameMeursault · 29/02/2020 00:35

You should reply with it's a shame she's got such a shit boyfriend then considering how amazing she is.

Oh yes, this ^^

You’re a genius @looselipssinkships cool username too 😊
