Bit of fun Smile

AIBU to hide behind the sofa when the rent man calls?

**
AIBU to burn my bra? I only have one bra, but I'm willing to sacrifice it for the good cause.

**

AIBU to wear 6inch platform shoes when it will make me 2 inches taller than my husband? Also, can I wear them when I'm pregnant?

**

AIBU. I am 3 months pregnant and my sister who had her baby a couple of months ago, told me that for the birth, the midwife shaves your pubic hair off! Surely she's joking?? I don't want a bald fango. It will look terrible, not to mention draughty!
My sister told me that it grows back quickly, but even so!!

Ellmau · 28/02/2020 19:17

I have terrible morning sickness, have you heard about a miracle new drug called thalidomide?

How can I cook with all these power cuts? (70s)

AIBU or are shops putting the prices up as a result of decimalisation? What was wrong with good old pounds shillings and pence? Everyone knew where they were with those.

How often do you change your knickers?

What do you think about this new idea for comprehensive Schools and no more 11+?

DS1 failed the 11+ last year, DS2 passed it this year, do I let DS 2 go to the grammar school or is it unfair?

A real one:
I've found out the baby we're adopting is my old friend's cousin's baby. Should I cut all ties with friend so I can keep baby?

longearedbat · 28/02/2020 20:01

When I was in the phone box the other day, I pressed button b but my coins didn't come out. Who should I complain to?
......
Do you think it's ok to send a telegram of congratulations for a friend's marriage as I forgot to send a card?

Is this a fair price for a house?

Me, my parents and DH all live together, but I would love to move to a nicer house/area (about 10 mins drive away). We've seen a house which we think has potential. Its 4 bed with a garden but it's been empty for nearly 2 years. It's up for £8,125. I think it's a lot for a house that needs quite a bit doing, but it would be so nice not to be quite so near a park and have field mice coming in! (I hate them so much!). Is it too much?

This was 1973. Same house is worth best part of £200k now!

littlebillie · 28/02/2020 20:29

can I dye my hair with tea?

Magickl · 28/02/2020 20:38

AIBU to wear trousers to work in a customer-facing environment even though last time I did my male manager told me not to wear them again?
(This did actually happen to me)

OldQueen1969 · 28/02/2020 20:59

1970s - my Mum:

"AIBU to forbid my daughter from watching ITV childrens programmes and insist she sticks to the BBC? Tizwaz is obviously a corrupting influence......"

1980s -

"AIBU to not let my daughter watch Brideshead Revisited because it is decadent or Eastenders because - well, it's a bit rough?"

"AIBU to think that home computers will never be commonplace?"

(After a girl at my grammar school presented a piece of homework that was a "magazine" all beautifully typed and printed because her parent was something exotic and media professional and much richer than us and I developed serious envy)

ironically by the mid 90s the entire family were glued to Albert Square and my Mum is now a fabulous silver surfer......

Yep, recognise that one.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/02/2020 21:24

Noel Edmunds Multicoloured Swap Shop was much more wholesome. (I watched Tiswas with the Phantom Flan Flinger)

AIBU to wish all summers were like 1976.

MitziK · 28/02/2020 21:27

@Halfeatentoast Yes - the PM showed he had a congenital abnormality in his diaphragm that meant he essentially suffocated. The parents concerned (my grandparents) never had another baby, as GM had 3 live births in between multiple miscarriages and couldn't face the idea of it happening again.

Slimmer2018 · 28/02/2020 21:30

1980s been up all night typing in a program to our children’s zx spectrum 48, literally all night, to amaze them that the screen will display a union flag when they turn it on in the morning... omg technology is amazing.. whatever next! This computer has 48K memory!! It’s amazing

Slimmer2018 · 28/02/2020 21:34

1970s all the children run to the school fence when the local lovely old man in a rain Mack appears to play the game where we ask what our names our - I was lucky today he named me sugar lips.. super excited i hope he comes back tomorrow...

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/02/2020 21:40

Findus crispy pancakes - oven or grill? Not sure if these sneaked into the tail end of the seventies.
They were definitely available in the early 70s.

Halfeatentoast · 28/02/2020 21:54

Mitzik gosh that's awful. Your poor grandparents. Thank you for sharing your family story. Flowers

wowfudge · 28/02/2020 21:56

AIBU to wash my hair when I've got my period? I've not washed it for a week and it's really greasy. My mum says I'll regret it.

1Morewineplease · 28/02/2020 22:08

Does replacing a meal with a single cube of chocolate really work ?

If AIBU existed in the 50's, 60's, 70's
1Morewineplease · 28/02/2020 22:09

Apologies for being unable to crop.

rslsys · 28/02/2020 22:21

Should I ask for the Hostess Trolley, which I can wheel into the dining room from the kitchen, or the type that goes on the sideboard as my Christmas Present from DH?

x2boys · 28/02/2020 22:22

That's awful @Mitzik what decade would that have been? My grandparents lost their first born in the 1930,s when he was about two.seems old as my Grandma didn't produce enough breast milk 😥

x2boys · 28/02/2020 22:23

Weeks*

TheMemoryLingers · 28/02/2020 22:24

1Morewineplease Yes, of course it does, because you'll never ever be tempted to eat the whole bar to fill the gaping chasm in your stomach, and then hare off down to the chippy for a full-on carb fest. Wink

S0upertrooper · 28/02/2020 23:48

My SIL put holes in my brand new kitchen linoleum when she walked over it in stilettos. AIBU to ask her to pay to replace it?

AIBU to put a lock on the phone to stop my teenage sons constantly phoning the clock and dial a disc?

TheMemoryLingers · 29/02/2020 00:16

80s - AIBU - My husband wants to buy a Betamax video recorder because he says the technology is far superior. I think VHS is a better bet because it's more popular. We asked our daughter for her opinion and she said it was irrelevant because both would be obsolete within 30 years. Who is right?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/02/2020 01:02

This computer has 48K memory!! It’s amazing
It's amazing to us now that you could actually do anything within 48k of memory.Grin

TheMemoryLingers · 29/02/2020 01:06

AIBU to ask if this is a BFP?

Confused
