What would you do ??

Are you going to completely isolate your whole family for 14 days and not have contact with anybody else just in case ?
Honestly just send him to school.

RevolutionofourTime · 25/02/2020 22:21

Keep him for a day. See if classmates or teachers test positive.

I’m not a panicker myself (I’m flying with DCs to Hong Kong tomorrow!) but there is a cluster of cases in HK where traces of the virus were found on a water tap and on a book at a temple, where many worshippers are infected. The virus was present AFTER disinfection had taken place at the temple.

This coronavirus is a tenacious bugger.

You are clearly worried. Your worry is not irrational. Keep your kid home for a day. See what news come out.

More importantly, remind DS of hygiene rules:

-don’t touch your face (this takes self awareness, as we do it all the time - hundreds of times a day);

-bin tissues immediately after using;

-cough in crook of elbow, not in hand;

-wash hands or use sanitiser all the time - every time the thought pops in your head, or at least on the hour.

-stay away from anyone coughing or sneezing. At least 2M away.

School in N Wales post ski trip has sent all ski pupils and teachers home to self isolate for 14 days.

Mammyloveswine · 25/02/2020 22:25

I remember this panic with swine flu... loads of people getting "diagnosed" over the phone and taking time off work accordingly.. easy skive for some.

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 25/02/2020 22:25

Is this Penrice? The decision to stay at home has now been overturned

Willowashen · 25/02/2020 22:26

@coco1728

Personally, if not immuno-compromised, I’d send them in.

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 25/02/2020 22:26

Sorry, phone didn't load the more recent posts. Just ignore me

CaptainNelson · 25/02/2020 22:29

If you/your child have no chronic disease and are not immuno-compromised, send your DC in. The sending home is precautionary to protect the rest of the school population.

Itsnotachesterdrawers · 25/02/2020 22:30

There appear to be many schools who are self isolating those returning from ski trips in Italy. It's advised as a precaution by public health and communication from the school states that all other pupils should attend.

I think you're being ridiculous personally. Should we all stay home?

Iconapop · 25/02/2020 22:33

All those saying don’t be silly, just send him, there’s no risk because they weren’t in the immediate area - how do you think virus’ spread? Especially one where people exposed may not show any symptoms that see them identified?

I understand that you’re trying to impress upon the OP that to you the risk is so minimal that it is not worth worrying about but given it is spreading across countries, across continents - at what point is the risk big enough?

coco1728 · 25/02/2020 22:34

He has asthma not chronic though ! Thank you for your answers people , I am a chronic worrier and I am more confused than before I posted eeeekkk decisions decisions

Atthebottomofthegarden · 25/02/2020 22:35

Send them in - unless he is in a high risk group

HisValentine · 25/02/2020 22:39

14 days isn't a long enough quarantine, someone showed symptoms after 27 days

coco1728 · 25/02/2020 22:43

Oh great thank you ,@ HisValentine cheers Confused

This is Salendine Nook , they took the decision to send 19 pupils and 4 teachers home at lunch time today. They had passed through Milan. Given these pupils and teachers were in school yesterday and today. It's a bit like bolting the stable door after the horse has run, but I appreciate they are following advice.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 25/02/2020 22:47

They "passed through Milan"...how? On a coach without stopping or stopped and mingled with the public?

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/02/2020 22:49

Was anyone else just surprised how many U.K. schools went on skiing trips to Italy in half term? There's been 3 in the town next to where I live, that one has now got 40 students and 4 teachers in self isolation. The others aren't isolating at all I don't think.

Skierrdery · 25/02/2020 22:49

Bit extreme for the ones who even were there I'd think.

Bongorave · 25/02/2020 22:51

Airport I believe

WorraLiberty · 25/02/2020 22:51

Bongorave why would you name the school like that when the OP hasn't? Hmm

Bluerussian · 25/02/2020 22:52

Tyneside.

Up to you whether or not you send your child to school but I don't think any of the children or teachers on the Italian ski trip have tested positive for Coronavirus.

coco1728 · 25/02/2020 22:53

Yeah @Bongorave ???? Do you live in the area have kids as the school ??

OP posts:
Bongorave · 25/02/2020 22:54

it's been named further up. Plus a quick Google will tell you which school sent home that number of kids today.

Aridane · 25/02/2020 22:54

My doctors wont see anyone that has been in contact with any that has returned from 'at risk' areas.

Except that is not what your screen grab says - maybe you have attached the wrong item?

WorraLiberty · 25/02/2020 22:54

That doesn't really answer the question
