To be addicted to Pepsi Max and scared about coming off it?

Iv always been addicted to it. I drink probably 1.5ltrs a day, sometimes less sometimes more.

I don’t drink anything else other than water and I don’t feel rehydrated drinking water etc.

But Iv decided enough is enough. I’m so grumpy if I haven’t had any.

I worry about drinking squash, is it as bad?

Helpppp I’m an addict 😩😩

I drink over a litre of diet coke a day. I know it's bad and I need to cut down or stop. I'll join you if you want stop.

Waveysnail · 25/02/2020 10:43

Iv found fizzy water is a good substitute. Brought myself a sodastream

ProgrammableMagneticStorm · 25/02/2020 10:44

Get a sodastream and transfer your addiction to sparkling water.

Use sugar-free squash, I love Robinson's Squash'd summer fruits.

It's been approx 17 hours since I had some.
I did drink some of my daughter's Sprite when she wasn't looking though.
Progress....?

Not DC addict but major coffee addict - i am really ill when i stop drinking it after about 6hrs - migraine like headache including vomiting but it does pass and within 48hrs you feel fine again.

Best to do it when you have no commitments for a couple of days

leghairdontcare · 25/02/2020 10:51

Caffeine is an addiction like any other. I tried to give up 2 years ago. I had painkillers to help with headaches and forced myself to drink lots of water. It gets better after 4-5 days and I felt really good.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to keep it up but good luck.

RightOnTheEdge · 25/02/2020 11:11

I'm the same Sad totally addicted to Pepsi Max or Coke Zero.
I get awful headaches and acid if I try to stop. Which surprised me, I thought drinking it would make more acid.

The price of it is terrible too. People frown on low income people smoking and buying alcohol I don't do that but the cost of Coke/Pepsi is a chunk out of the shopping.

I'm on my own and it's very rare I go on a night out. I don't smoke and very rarely have a drink so it's a bit of a downer to think about no cola either but I know it's bad and I hate that my dc see me drinking it all the time.

I’ve been addicted to full sugar coke since I can remember. I would literally beg my Mum as a child to buy it for me but she would always buy the supermarket own brand, which was nothing like the real thing. If I ever had any money I would be off to the local shop to buy cans of it!

This went on well into my 30’s but I stopped drinking it at home about 3 months ago and I haven’t bought any since. It was a combination of seeing the rising cost of it and the fact that it’s so bad for me that did it. I’m lucky that it’s never impacted my teeth! I still drink it when I go out but I only have one and then switch to something healthier. I’ve lost weight too, which is a big bonus!

You can do it OP- if I can, you can! 👍🏻

I have fibromyalgia and drink coffee in the morning and coke through the day to give me energy. Does anyone have any advice to what I could eat/drink instead especially for that first thing in the morning boost? ( can’t be a smoothie needs to be super quick and easy).

bugbhaer · 25/02/2020 11:48

I feel a lot better when I’m clean. Sleep better and my head feels “clear” (hard to explain).

bugbhaer · 25/02/2020 11:49

And of course I’m not spending money on it, or preoccupied by 11am about getting my fix.
