So I'm 31 + 3 and today my baby has been moving non-stop which isn't normal for me. I have an anterior placenta and usually get strong kicks in the morning, and then some throughout the day and then late at night, but today it has been constant and really big movements. I've also got really bad diarrhoa and have had two accidents but I feel otherwise fine in myself, it doesn't feel like I have a bug. I've also had lots of pressure on my pelvis to the point I've peed myself today and I had pinkish discharge (although I do have thrush that hasn't been treated yet).

I've called maternity triage and the woman was quite dismissive and told me to see how things go over the weekend and that I probably just have a bug but something just seems off. What else can I do?

Go in for monitoring do not be fobbed off!

BarbarAnna · 21/02/2020 17:26

You are meant to be seen for any changes in movements for you, even if that is more movement than normal as opposed to less. Where I live, you can present yourself at Antenatal Day Assessment Unit. Is that an option where you live? Do trust your gut. Good luck.

Fraggle45 · 21/02/2020 17:31

I'd go straight up to the hospital and insist on going on the monitor

icclemunchy · 21/02/2020 17:33

Any change in movement needs checking op. Just go in

bananaontoast1 · 21/02/2020 17:34

GO TO GET CHECKED!

Do not be fobbed off! Call back and tell them you're coming in as you're really worried and the baby's movements are not normal for them. DO NOT WAIT!

JustDanceAddict · 21/02/2020 17:36

Definitely go in. I’d phone back and hopefully you’ll get another midwife on the call.

Inver38 · 21/02/2020 17:37

Go and get checked.

Don’t take no for an answer, go in.

drumandthebass · 21/02/2020 17:37

I would definitely go and get checked. I hope all is well

Chocolateandchats · 21/02/2020 17:38

Totally agree with above. Turn up at your maternity unit and explain your situation, they need to check everything is ok.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/02/2020 17:38

I agree, go in, get checked and don’t be fobbed off.
Hope all is well OP.

ChickenDippers123 · 21/02/2020 17:40

I’ve called again and said I really feel something’s not right and they’ve said that they’re not worried but if I really want to go in I can, so I’m heading there soon as they said to go in in an hour. Thanks for all the advice

I would go in. I read something the other that said you have to take sudden increases in movements as seriously as sudden decreases. Just go in. My experience is that in person they're not as dismissive as they can be over the phone. Hope all is well.

Roaren · 21/02/2020 17:41

Sorry, cross-posted.

Evidencebased · 21/02/2020 17:43

Go to hospital.
Insist on getting checked.
Tonight.

Evidencebased · 21/02/2020 17:44

Just seen your update.
We'll all have our fingers crossed for you.

Yeeted · 21/02/2020 17:45

Glad you are getting checked over. It doesn’t matter if they’re not worried. You are worried and the movement pattern is different to normal. Absolutely don’t be fobbed off and wishing you lots of luck and hope your mind is put at ease.

WinterCat · 21/02/2020 17:46

My baby died shortly after she was born. I was categorically told it’s a change in movements that they worry about, whether that change is an increase or decrease. Please complain about the fact you were fobbed off.

AudacityOfHope · 21/02/2020 17:51

Glad you're getting checked over: could well just be the baby shifting position a lot but it's best to be sure.

Good luck Smile

SinkGirl · 21/02/2020 17:51

Hope you’re okay. Please go now.

When I was 35 weeks I felt really unwell but couldn’t really explain it - something was wrong and I thought I might be leaking fluid but it stopped. Was awake all night with a headache and just feeling wrong. Waited until my midwife came round the next afternoon and she said it’s probably nothing but let’s get you checked out. Made me an appointment for 5:30pm.

By 7pm it became clear that twin 2 had a static heart rate and wasn’t moving at all. Went straight to theatre for an emcs.

If I’d waited until the next morning he wouldn’t be here. If I’d waited another hour or two, he wouldn’t be here. Don’t be fobbed off. Insist on being put on a monitor, they’ll know quite quickly if something is wrong.

And if they send you home and it happens again, go back again.

DaphneFanshaw · 21/02/2020 17:54

Just make your way in now.
Don’t wait.
Hope it all goes well.

TheyDoDoThat · 21/02/2020 17:59

Good luck op. So much conflicting information from different Midwife’s.

cultkid · 21/02/2020 18:00

Don't even wait an hour go up now and insist

ChickenDippers123 · 21/02/2020 18:44

I’m here now and on the monitor, this midwife is really nice luckily

WhoLettheCatOut · 21/02/2020 18:48

Glad you went in. With my DS2 I had significantly increased movements overnight and when I mentioned it at my routine midwife appointment the next morning she made me go in immediately for monitoring. She told me it was any change rather than just any reduction. She was worried to the extent that despite not being my regular midwife she followed up on me so always worth a check.

Evidencebased · 21/02/2020 18:55

Well done you.
Hope there's good news soon.
