So I'm 31 + 3 and today my baby has been moving non-stop which isn't normal for me. I have an anterior placenta and usually get strong kicks in the morning, and then some throughout the day and then late at night, but today it has been constant and really big movements. I've also got really bad diarrhoa and have had two accidents but I feel otherwise fine in myself, it doesn't feel like I have a bug. I've also had lots of pressure on my pelvis to the point I've peed myself today and I had pinkish discharge (although I do have thrush that hasn't been treated yet).

I've called maternity triage and the woman was quite dismissive and told me to see how things go over the weekend and that I probably just have a bug but something just seems off. What else can I do?

Glad you got checked out.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/02/2020 19:42

Very glad you are now being monitored.

SinkGirl · 21/02/2020 19:52

Well done OP. I know how difficult it is to be assertive, I was really wary of “making a fuss” etc but you’ve 100% done the right thing. I’ve been worried about you since I saw your post earlier. Hopefully everything is okay.

cultkid · 21/02/2020 20:03

How's it going?

Winterwoollies · 21/02/2020 20:20

Oh god I hate it when triage midwives do this. They did it to my friend whose baby hadn’t moved all day. She was so worried.

There’s charities dedicated to ‘counting the kicks’ and all of our pregnancy folders have written all over them about phoning for any change in movement. Then when you do, they fob you off.

I say phone again, don’t let them tell you to just lay on your side and drink icy water, tell them you’re coming down for a check.

They shouldn’t hugely drum one thing into us and then act another way when it comes down to it.

Winterwoollies · 21/02/2020 20:21

Oh I’m sorry, I opened the page earlier and hadn’t seen all the updated comments. Still, my rant stands! I hope everything is ok x

ChickenDippers123 · 21/02/2020 21:43

I just wanted to update everyone, me and baby are both fine and everything looks good, so relieved! Thank you everyone for the supportive comments and the advice, glad I went x

Completely agree @WinterWoollies - they constantly tell you to get any change in movement checked, then when you call they say 'we're not worried but if you are, you can come in'. OP you have absolutely done the right thing in getting checked.

Yeeted · 21/02/2020 21:58

That’s brilliant news. So glad you went. It’s important to get any change in movements checked out.

Thedogscollar · 21/02/2020 22:12

I ALWAYS invite every woman who calls in with decreased or increased fetal movements. You know your own baby and what is normal for you. It is reassuring for you to know all is ok and I could never forgive myself if there was a bad outcome for the sake of a visit to triage for 30mins of fetal monitoring. So glad all is ok OP and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. Any other problems with movements just call them again as this can be a significant symptom of a compromised baby.

SirVixofVixHall · 21/02/2020 23:38

Great news OP. I am so glad you were checked.
