To not get what this has to do with Caroline Flack?!

Rainbowb · 20/02/2020 18:24

Have been getting tagged in lots of FB posts with photos of the poster pouting at the camera saying:

The news of Caroline Flack has been so devastating.... 😢

Let's do this for Caroline Flack 💔
#ChallengeAccepted 😍 #24hours
(If I didn't tag you, please don't be offended, I tried to pick people who I thought would take part).
All too often, some women find it easier to criticize each other or themselves instead of building each other up, with all the negativity going around, lets do something positive!!
Because you are beautiful!! 😘
Upload 1 picture of yourself... ONLY you.
Then tag 25 or more gorgeous women to do the same. Build yourself up instead of tearing yourself down ❤️COPY AND PASTE
If I tagged you, don't disappoint me.

How on earth does posting a pic of yourself and desperately fishing for compliments help Caroline Flack or anyone else?! The way people respond to a tragedy by creating another hashtag bandwagon is so appalling!

@Rainbowb

YANBU!

I always ignore this type of bullshitty wanky bollocks!

I have had a bunch of them lately. Telling me to repost a pic of my own 'feisty, beautiful' self and tag dozens of other women in, and if I don't I am DISAPPOINTING them. Hmm

Well sorry luv, you'll have to be disappointed because I'm not doing it, and fuck off with your manipulative 'don't let me down' bullshit! Hmm

@northernstars

I've just been talking about this. The ones I'm getting say don't be offended if you're not tagged - I tagged people I thought were fun!! How is that being kind?

I know right. Like, 'I haven't tagged you coz you're a boring cunt.' Confused

Also, I had someone put a post on their timeline the other week saying they are gonna have a CULL of their friends list, and we are all to put a post on her timeline to explain why we think she could keep us as a friend. Hmm

Weirdly, her 'friends list' was 399 when she started, and it was 399 a week later, and not ONE message appeared begging to not be deleted. Also, her post was deleted after about 8-9 days hahaha !!!

Didn't get the attention you wanted eh luv?!Grin

Oh, and yeah I also don't get what it's got to do with Caroline Flack.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/02/2020 20:09

First we had virtue-signalling, now it’s kindness-signalling - an epidemic of it, evidently spreading faster than coronavirus.

anotherlittlechicken · 20/02/2020 20:09

Why she SHOULD keep us as a friend (not could!)

pipnchops · 20/02/2020 20:10

Totally agree, don't get this at all and haven't been tagged in any of them which either means I'm not beautiful or all my Facebook friends know I wouldn't do it. I haven't updated my profile pic or posted anything in about 2 years ago so I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

St0pTryingT0MakeFetchHappen · 20/02/2020 20:12

"polishing the crown" sounds like a sex act.

Also - YADNBU

bobstersmum · 20/02/2020 20:13

So glad I'm not on fb because things like this give me the absolute rage! Self indulgent vain wankers!

ArriettyJones · 20/02/2020 20:14

Like any of these pouting types needs to co-opt the tragic suicide of a desperate woman to post selfies. They are exactly the people who post selfies constantly anyway.

Really poor taste.

SpinneyHill · 20/02/2020 20:18

Imagine if men were doing this to each other after a man had committed suicide because his career was ruined after a domestic assault.

It's in very poor taste to suggest that if she had received more compliments she wouldn't have done it.

RaininSummer · 20/02/2020 20:22

I haven't seen this. Hate stuff like that so hopefully this is a sign that my fb friends aren't a bunch of narcissistic duck faces.

LadyMary50 · 20/02/2020 20:24

The one that really sickened me was a couple of years ago about breast cancer awareness.Pouty women with a face full of make up posting pictures of their cleavage.Yeh that would really help all the women who had mastectomies.I can’t stand these narcissistic women who use any campaign to post a massively filtered selfie

Villageidiots · 20/02/2020 20:31

Yes, the first fb poster that I saw posting 'in a world where you can be anything be kind' is, rather ironically a complete bitch.

dayswithaY · 20/02/2020 20:33

Things are getting bizarre. There was an "expert" on the radio urging women to boycott celeb gossip mags that focus on women's bodies - out of respect to Caroline. There is also a petition to launch something called "Caroline's Law" to protect women in the public eye from negative criticism.

I'm sorry for Caroline's family but her problems were not caused by unflattering photographs in magazines or negative comments on social media. They were the least of her problems. There was something far more complex going on and people are ignoring that for stupid "likes" .

midnightcamiforever · 20/02/2020 20:44

I view those sort of inane posts in the same way that I viewed chain letters at school. Worth nothing more than filing in the bin.

BabyWenger · 20/02/2020 21:01

Such utter bullshit.

Same as the make up free selfies a few years ago.

It's brainless vanity disguised as raising awareness. I cringe when I see this shite.

Figgygal · 20/02/2020 21:03

Yup I’ve been tagged a few times and ignored them all
Total rubbish

Gemm83 · 20/02/2020 21:04

I find phrases such as "polish/straighten crowns" "you've got this" and "living my best life" totally vom inducing.

During labour my MW get shouting "you've got this!" whilst I was screaming "Where's the bastard gone?" in reference to the anesthetist walking off without giving me my epidural (not my proudest moment!)

Suicide no matter who you are is awful but all these "For Caroline" posts are getting a bit ridiculous. I have been tagged to participate, but won't be. I actually got asked as to why I haven't done it yet!!!

Trying to think of a sensible reply!!

MimiLaRue · 20/02/2020 21:05

I got one of these yesterday. I ignored it.
Its bloody ridiculous, attention seeking BS.

"Post a heavily filtered photo of yourself in a thong bikini covered in baby oil doing yoga on the edge of a cliff to how your support for Caroline Flack!"

"Post a duck faced selfie to show your support for mental health issues!"

"Post a picture of your sports car in support of celebrities with mental health issues!"

Fck off.

katy1213 · 20/02/2020 21:09

I'd never heard of Caroline whatshername until the other day but her death does seem to have unleashed a stream of inanities.
I do hate this trend for public crocodile tears and online 'condolences.'
Anybody who truly cared about her death (and actually knew her) would surely make the effort to post a handwritten letter to her family ... you know, an old-fashioned personal and private communication that isn't virtue-signalling in order to harvest 'likes' but expresses sympathy to those who are actually bereaved - rather than those who are lapping up the drama. I'm still unsure who she was or what she did - and doubt I'd be interested - but surely she didn't serve her death to be turned into a national soap opera like a cut-price Princess Diana.

isabellerossignol · 20/02/2020 21:10

I think I have a reputation for this face Hmm because none of my Facebook friends have tagged me in this shite, thank goodness.

I did see a post being shared from a beauty salon saying they were no longer going to have magazines in the waiting area etc and it made my head want to explode because beauty salons entire business model operates on women not feeling good enough about themselves. I like going to salons, I love having massages and I enjoy having someone transform me into a younger prettier me with makeup, so I'm far from immune. But let's not kid ourselves that it's empowering to have someone meddle with your brows, your nails, your eyelashes, your skin, rip the hair from every inch of your body and then make it change colour with fake tan.

FelicityFebruary · 20/02/2020 21:13

"Please don't be offended"

Not very empathetic really.

MimiLaRue · 20/02/2020 21:14

I do hate this trend for public crocodile tears and online 'condolences.

Yeah, I notice none of the people posting this nonsense ever mentioned suicide awareness before - when it was non-celebrities dying. Plus, this bizarre canonisation of CF is frankly, weird and disturbing.

DartmoorChef · 20/02/2020 21:15

I just ignore posts like these. I've been tagged in dozens this last few days and I just scroll past. I know the peiole who posted will have forgotten they posted by the next day, never mind being disappointed 😂

LHMBF · 20/02/2020 21:16

So glad I deleted my Facebook account over a year ago. Load of shit

TryingToBeBold · 20/02/2020 21:28

Copied my own post from a previous similar post

I've untagged myself.
Rather than "raising awareness" why can't they simply message someone they know has struggled with their mental health.. or is that not "public" enough..

headlock · 20/02/2020 21:31

It's such a load of cringy bullshit. I've seen a few people I know for a fact are shit stirring bitches with 'be kind' on their profile. Total twats.
