To be proud of my parking

So I have a new car that is much much bigger than my old car. I had it an hour before I reversed into a lamppost. Today I managed to reverse it into my drive! It had gates and it's fairly narrow and I'm so so proud of myself. I'm not proud of myself for much these days but I was so happy I took a picture and sent it to my family!

Well done OP! I’ve had my licence for 20 years but only started driving a few months ago, so you have my sympathies! I only drive the kids to nursery and kindergarten though - I’m too nervous to drive any other routes for fear I won’t know how to navigate the junctions.

To leave my house I have to reverse out the gates, onto a main road, usually between 2 cars parallel parked on the road. It’s a bugger! Coming back I have to reverse park into the parking space too. My DH does it in one go whereas I need about 5 minutes and a 5 point turn. The first time I did it by myself I sent a photo to my driving instructor!

I can’t bear the big motorway roundabouts. They’re perfectly straightforward but for some reason I have a bit of a thing about them and I always panic that I’m going to get in the wrong lane and get sent off down the wrong motorway. I think it’s because it’s such a long way round before you can turn off, come back down and find the right exit again. I have actually done it once and for some reason it’s stayed with me even though it was only a small roundabout and I didn’t go that far wrong. Confused
