Thinking of making a big move

It's not easy IME, no sitters on tap if you have children and although we are not the only ones to move away (far from it, in fact, and we are not as distant as some) only one of our siblings has ever been to our house to see us. We are expected to travel all the time and it really, really grates on me. Even when people are relatively nearby, they don't call in yet they will spend time and money travelling further to see others or call in to see someone else. I am beginning to rebel about going to see them, but I'm not sure if it will make them visit us at all!

When you have children they often have stuff going on at the weekend themselves that they don't want to miss, so it is harder to travel. This half-term my DD has a lot on so we haven't gone back to see anyone as we haven't had a free weekend where we could do it. My DD misses her family as we used to see more of them before we moved. We still travelled then tbh, but at least they would come round occasionally!

Living as far away from my brother as possible is a good plan as he's a sanctimonious judgemental fucknugget I can't stand. It stresses me out knowing he's coming anywhere I've got to be with the way he goes on.

I find it harder living the same distance away from my mum as she's getting older and I think she's feeling it now too just in terms of missing the grandkids... although they're up there every half term so it's only a few weeks at a time that they don't see her.
