Parking Woes. With Photo. Is this CF?

The red car is at least half of its length over the dropped curb. We can just about get our car in and out and as you can see bit at angle. It is one of our neighbours but we dont know which house number. It is one of the six along from us.

Is this CFery parking or am I sweating the small stuff? I dont want any of the other neighbours thinking we are ok with kind of parking which is why I think we should nip it in the bud before it becomes accepted habit. They are relatively new neighbours (about 6 months) and this is the first time they have done it.

Usually we know which neighbour and the house they live in so we can ask them to move if we need to but this could be about every 3 months and normally it is because they are loading or unloading so move quickly enough.

Am I being unreasonable leaving a note on their car telling them to not block the dropped kerb again?

I would 100% leave a note and also leave a pylon put blocking off that section of your drive so you can still easily get in & out but so that ppl can't park there. Jerks!

Survey99 · 16/02/2020 16:17

If you don't know the house leave a note saying, - sorry I dont know which house you are in or I would have knocked, but we haven't been able to get out today as you have blocked our driveway. Can you try to avoid in future. Thanks. George & Mildred (No 16).

I would bang on every door in the neighbourhood and when I found the parking twat, I would tell them to move their fucking car.

As you can probably tell, I have to put up with this on a near daily basis. My patience and tolerance levels are zero. I didn't pay thousands of £ for a drive and access to the road for some other selfish knob to enjoy.

Cry havoc and unleash the hounds of hell OP.

This!

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 16/02/2020 16:43

The house opposite us has their driveway in between two marked parking bays and the owner has taken to parking right at the end of his drive with nose touching the pavement because of cheeky fuckers overhanging the parking bays. It seems to have stopped it.

Stefoscope · 16/02/2020 16:43

YANBU. My (policeman) neighbour always has visitors who park just over our dropped kerb like this if they're given the chance. We've started having to play musical cars and leave one out on the street to deter them from doing it. He also parks directly opposite our driveway on the bend of a very narrow road, so it's very tricky to maneouver out of the driveway sometimes. He once parked so far on the pavement I noticed his elderly neighbour accidently knock his car whilst he was opening his front gate!

GreyishDays · 16/02/2020 16:44

I would also knock on doors till I found them and, nicely, ask them to move it. Inconvenience them and they won’t be as likely to do it again.

Frenchw1fe · 16/02/2020 16:46

That would give me the rage. Lazy gits.

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 16/02/2020 16:47

I'd write a modified version of this excellent suggestion, which is mostly worded well and hopefully will avoid this escalating:

sorry I dont know which house you are in or I would have knocked, but we haven't been able to get out today as you have blocked our driveway. Can you try to avoid in future. Thanks. George & Mildred (No 16).

Perfect BUT change "Can you try to avoid in future" to "Please don't do this again"

You don't want them to try and avoid it (which implies that if they have a good excuse it's ok, when it's totally not) they need to know that this isn't acceptable.

Notyetthere · 16/02/2020 16:54

Right, off to write that note.

ScreamingBeans · 16/02/2020 16:55

Put a note on their windscreen saying you won't take responsibility for any damages caused to their vehicle due to irresponsible parking... It may make them think again

No don't do that. It's not legal to cause criminal damage to someone's car even if they are parked wrongly. If their car does get damaged, they may be able to pin it on you as they have evidence of you threatening criminal damage.

Just report them on the non emergency line, saying that your car is being obstructed and you can't get onto the public highway because of the obstruction.

Don't bother with the note or knocking on their door, why should you go to the trouble. Someone who was amenable to reason wouldn't actually do this and I don't think you'd get a good response. They might do it for five minutes while they very quickly took heavy shopping bags in or something, in order not to obstruct the road, but they wouldn't leave it there.

SunshineCake · 16/02/2020 16:55

We had someone park across our drive but on the other side of the road. Even after dh reversed into their car by accident they still did it. I've since told them it is a pain in the arse. They still do it and now they are having work done so we have four extra vehicles to manoeuvre around.

Geminijes · 16/02/2020 16:59

They are relatively new neighbours (about 6 months)

If you don't know the house number then how do you know it's a car from the relatively new neighbours?

Paddingtonthebear · 16/02/2020 17:00

I would reverse / drive your car up to kerb and leave it, do that your car is blocking their car. Then you will find out who it is as they will have to knock on your door to ask you to move 😂

Paddingtonthebear · 16/02/2020 17:01

*the kerb
*so that

SchadenfreudePersonified · 16/02/2020 17:06

I would bang on every door in the neighbourhood and when I found the parking twat, I would tell them to move their fucking car.

I have to confess that I would also do this.

And if it happened again I would set their car alright pot a potato up the exhaust pipe.

They are twats.

If not, you should.

@SchadenfreudePersonified howling at lifting a very well written note from another poster but making it more blunt scores me a job in the diplomatic services, as would you if you knew me! My usual style would be more similar to yours Grin

Hope it works!

Can you look up net house prices for recent purchases in the street? Wouldn’t help identify a renter though.

Notyetthere · 16/02/2020 17:47

@Geminijes I know they are a neighbour as I see this car every day further up on our road and once or twice a week I might glimpse the owners from my kitchen window.

They cannot even argue that their wheel is on a non-dropped kerb, it is well over.

I was blocked by a car , the wheel was on the raised kerb (just) but the exceedingly long bonnet was across the front of mine .

I have OSP for two but only have one car but on this day I was parked right over the the edge of mine . I could get out so but it did rile a bit .
(No bloody clue who the car belonged to either)

idontlike789 · 16/02/2020 17:50

Definitely cf blocking your access , ok you can get out but if someone parks on the other side ,It's like my road .
