How can the police claim to be making this a nationwide priority when only as far away as Cumbria I've never heard her name!!

I hadn't heard of her either. I'm not on social media and when I've had the news on it's never been on there.

Angelw · 16/02/2020 14:56

Heartbreaking watching her mum, hope they can have some closure ☹️

gingersausage · 16/02/2020 16:01

@YesItsMeIDontCare that’s so sad Flowers. Are you on Websleuths? They post links to lesser known cases. There’s also a Reddit sub for missing people that it’s worth posting your relative’s case on.

TheDarkPassenger · 16/02/2020 16:13

I don’t understand what you mean about only as far away as Cumbria? It’s nowhere near Thames valley Confused

I’m northern and not heard about it either, I get news posts on my phone but I don’t really do Facebook or anything else they may have posted on. So if it’s not on here or noones text me about it then I won’t have I guess!

Itsjustmee · 16/02/2020 16:25

I’ve heard of her and of her family and I live right at the other end of the country . And I’m not on SM
It’s in the news again because I think she disappeared this time last year and has not been seen since .
Very sad about her brother as well .
I can’t imagine what the family are going through
But anything that might help someone remember anything about her disappearance is worthwhile

puds11 · 16/02/2020 16:27

Yeah, you’ve been under a rock!

everythingisginandroses · 16/02/2020 16:28

Poor girl. I hadn't heard of this case either. I often think about Georgina Gharsallah, now missing for almost 2 years Sad

ElderAve · 16/02/2020 16:30

Her father's threatening to name someone he thinks has information. I don't understand why he wouldn't have done that as soon as he became aware? Even if he's wrong what's to lose?

puds11 · 16/02/2020 16:35

@Elder it could potentially destroy the persons life if he is wrong. I don’t understand why the police wouldn’t be informed though.

ElderAve · 16/02/2020 16:37

Yes, I've no idea what the information is. I wouldn't expect him to name them publicly but why wouldn't he have told the police?

ahenderson270 · 16/02/2020 16:51

Sorry didn't mean to post and disappear - so I have the bbc news ap, and follow the Lancashire and Cumbria police Facebook and email updates and I've never heard of her 🤷🏻‍♀️

However as others have pointed out the numbers of missing people are staggering - I've looked more into this and I'm honestly just .. blown away.

I will say for those of you that chose to be a bit snotty with me .. with everything that's been going on with a certain celebrity and the obvious implications of online bullying - if you can be one thing in this world .. be kind .. or at least just be quiet.

Perhaps if folk spent more time supporting the charities and search parties for the tens of thousands of missing folk and less time bullying online we would solve two tragic pandemics 🤷🏻‍♀️

For the poster who shared the links to the charities and how to help the families of the missing thousands thanks so much, I'll get stuck into that and perhaps with enough people
Behind it the faces and movements of missing loved ones will have more media coverage than a lamp being tossed during a row between a couple in private we might actually locate more than seem to be ever found!

Thanks folks xx

That missing person page is so sad. You know there will always be people who choose to leave but at the same time as is looking likely with this one..theres people who dont and others are involved.

Funkycats · 16/02/2020 17:11

I haven't seen anything on the news either. It's so sad!

Winterwoollies · 16/02/2020 17:57

She’s been all over the news. It’s awful. Her brother thought he knew who had taken her and then killed himself. That was all over the news, too.

Where do you get your news from?!

ahenderson270 · 16/02/2020 18:23

@Winterwoollies I have the bbc news app set to
My local area and I subscribe to Lancashire and Cumbria police Facebook pages (Morecambe and Lancaster area police and Cumbria police) I also get weekly email updates from the police.

Multiple other posters from my area and several others have all said the same.

Old thread - but I agree with original OP as have only just heard this girls name for the first time, through a shared facbook post. Which is why I googled to try and figure out why it hasn’t been publicised more.

I live in the south west but have been aware of other missing women, such as Claudia Lawrence and certainly Sarah Everard from the day after she went missing. For anyone who lives in the area, is it assumed that this young women left voluntarily and that’s why there has been little nationwide coverage? (Unless I’m living under a rock too, but I just asked DH and he hasn’t heard her name before either)
