To not know how to use a flannel?

I went to a Temple Spa party my friend was having a while ago. The person who was demonstrating all the products handed us all a hot flannel to wipe our faces with, and it was heavenly!

I've never used one before and I have bought a couple now but I haven't started using them because I'm not sure how to?

I know that sounds really silly but do you use them to take off your makeup? Or do you wash your face and then wipe off your soap/cleanser with them?

Also, then what do you do with them - where do you store them? We don't have a towel rail in the bathroom, just a radiator at the moment as we've not long since moved into a new house. Do you wash them after every use or is it more of a weekly thing? How many do I need?

I feel very silly that I've gotten to 30 years old without knowing this! Grin

It isn’t very environmentally friendly, all these flannels in the wash. Just use face wash and hands. I have never done a strip wash. Use the shower!

Love a flannel!

Flannels are great for the environment, they can just go in an existing wash as they're so small, they can be used instead of plasticky shower sponges and used instead of disposable make up wipes.

When muslins became popular I used those for a bit but I've been back on flannels and much prefer them. I know this isn't recommended but to remove makeup at the end of the day I brush my hair into a bun, turn the shower on, liberally apply cleansing balm and then get in the shower. I LOVE the feeling of the flannel. Tyne rain this method isn't recommended is because of the water temp, butter I don't have too hot showers. My skin is naturally quite dry since I don't want to harm it further, so the temp of my shower is fine for this.

Only just started using a flannel to remove my make up and I love it! For years I used muslim cloths but after a few washes they wore out or lost their shape. I bought 7@ 75p each from Boots, throw in the wash after every use. There's a certain satisfaction of seeing the amount of make up on the flannel and my face feels so much cleaner. No going back!

Another flannel lover here.

I think flannels are really good for skin care. I have tried lots of fancy exfoliators, but a flannel is most effective. Just the right texture for gentle exfoliation.

I also love a strip wash. There are parts of my body that don't enjoy being washed every day- my elbows, skin on my back, my shins etc. My skin can be dry, and excessive washing makes irt worse.

When I was a child a strip wash was a necessity. We couldn't afford lots of hot water, and showers were not as popular. So a bath was a once a week event.
We learned how to strip wash as a young child, it is a good efficient process. My aunt and uncle lived close by- they had 7 daughters, I stayed over a lot, and it was so sweet watching the older girls teach the younger girls how to sink wash.

I would question those who are suggesting a shower over a flannel for environmental reasons.
Surely a shower uses more resources than having a shower than putting a few flannels in the washing machine with other items. They weigh only a few grams.
