Has anybody got a little plump belly that they actually like?

Because I've come to like mine lol.

My love handles - different story. Asked my gym instructor for exercises to target the area and he was like 'Well basically that's fat'. He did give me exercises though.

But I've come to accept my little belly!

I have a friend who has a great figure and she has a little belly fat...just a bit...and it actually looks really nice! It's not massive....just a little rise.

BillHadersNewWife · 11/02/2020 06:47

OP what did he mean by "basically that's just fat"?? Of course it is! Was he saying no exercise would help? And that it's just diet related?

2020runner · 11/02/2020 06:47

I don't like mine but I've accepted it and I do appreciate what my tummy went through for my two beautiful daughters. I also have IBS and bloat a lot so there are times when I still get upset but generally I've accepted it

Spinakker · 11/02/2020 06:47

What a great start to my day making my vote on this Grin

I feel I did him an injustice there. I was a little offended when he said it's just fat - I mean - he could have said it's where women carry weight or something. Nope.

He basically had me lifting a heavy kettlebell up and down from my side for 20 reps. And then the dreaded hip moving planks, where you're in plank position but touch one hip to the ground, then lift your ass and touch other hip to the ground?

I'm 42 and have had a c-section. I've had a flat tummy before though. I think alcohol is my demon which I never mention to my trainers lol. A gin on the lips? A lifetime on the hips.

But I've come to accept my little tummy. I think that's me coming out of my midlife crisis and accepting that I'm now 'old'.

Not my fat belly so much, but I really love the feeling of my bingo wings, they are so soft and squishy!

araiwa · 11/02/2020 07:06

God no

It looks terrible

MinnieMountain · 11/02/2020 07:06

I'm not calling myself old at 41 because I'm probably only half way through my life.

But I will join you in the belly love. I'm otherwise slim and it will take a lot of work to shift.

NothingWrong · 11/02/2020 07:11

I'm older and wiser than you Minnie.

But yes, if it won't fucking shift, you have to learn to love it!

I prefer mine flat.

missmouse101 · 11/02/2020 07:14

I've got a huge tummy.Sad If I only had a little plump one I would be absolutely delighted.

ChasingRainbows19 · 11/02/2020 07:14

Course exercise helps! PTs are quite honest and you can't target fat from specific areas and melt it away but you can train those areas to build and strengthen the muscle which will help! Op feel the pain of the side planks -and dips though!

I have always have had a tummy from being little. And I have mild ibs symptoms including bloating sometimes. Never massively bothered me. I do think a lot of women have a little something there.

I've exercised consistently for 10 years to be healthy and it's all helped my figure and I'm pretty well toned but still a size 12. Swimming, spinning, body combat, resistance bands, walking and yoga. I tend to mix it up.

But in the last year I've found upping my yoga has helped the most. Nothing fancy or really crazy poses but it does a lot for my middle with the core strength!

I've not a six pack but I've more definition and a waist I've never had and much flatter tummy! I'm 40 so never thought that would happen Grin

Oh don't we all want it flat. About two years ago, I could feel my tummy and it was a concave beneath my pelvis. Now alas, it's just a little 'plump'. But it has taken me 2 years not to hate this part of my body. Now I'm like 'stop bullying your belly' lol

I am of the opinion that it's very feminine. My digestive system is under my tummy...therefore if i eat ( love my food) there will be a slight bulge.

Noconceptofnormal · 11/02/2020 07:18

Urgh no, I'm 4 months post partum and look bloody awful in that department. Still look about 16 weeks pregnant Sad. Dreading someone asking me when I'm duenor if I'm pregnant again.

NothingWrong · 11/02/2020 07:20

Ye, yoga did it for me too.
And Pilates.
And my cruel trainers.

Been unwell for a year and a half, so not too happy.

Reminds me of that woman from Pulp Fiction who wants a little pot belly. Sometimes it does look feminine though.

MaggieAndHopey · 11/02/2020 07:24

I don't hate my belly but I definitely accept it - I've always had one, even before children, it just varies in size! It's my energy store.

Moonlite · 11/02/2020 07:37

I have very stretched lose skin (after 3 large babies, biggest 10lb2) my belly is basically a mass of deep wrinkles that could only ever be fixed by surgery, in my late 20s I was so self conscious and embarrassed and was planning to try and save around 5 grand to have it fixed. Then my son made a comment (hes 7) "I love mummy's squishy tummy that's where I used to live" and it changed my whole mindset. I went from detesting my tummy to loving it, it's a little fat too but it stretched and grew 3 children so I have accepted it and embraced it. Surgery will never happen now I am not ashamed of it anymore, I'm actually quite proud of it! Lol

Did anyone watch Mary Beard's programme on nudes last night? There's a section in that where she sits for a life drawing session and is presented with the drawings afterwards. The way she talks about her body afterwards is almost inspiring and she's so honest about why she picks her favourite ("I think it's probably because I can see my face as it was in my twenties in it"). And the drawings are beautiful! It's about a 10min section roughly halfway through, I'd recommend it for a bit of a boost! :)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/02/2020 07:43

I had a round little belly and hated it. Then I lost 3 stone and gave up sugar and started exercising and it's now gone- except now I have crepey, paper thin skin and a c-section fold (that will never go) and it's just skin! I think it's almost worse that the fat belly. It's a case of 'Be careful what you wish for!'

springydaff · 11/02/2020 07:53

I have a very plump (not so little) puppy in my lap.

I'm definitely not keen. But I've got good skin so that helps I suppose.

I used to seriously hate this part of my body - dysmorphia, really. So it's good I've got beyond that. I do a lot of disguising and could never wear a skirt.

Loved that Mary Beard programme last night!

Mauhea · 11/02/2020 08:02

I've got a lot of love for my body, little belly and chubby butt included. Of course I wouldn't mind losing a bit of weight (fingers crossed Slimming World will continue to help with that!) and I'd like to be the sort of shape that can pull off a bodycon dress or jumpsuit without looking like a confused sausage. But if that never happens, that's okay, so long as I'm happy and healthy. Plus the boyfriend has a LOT to say about my body (clothes on or off). Admittedly it's mostly non-verbal but it does massage the ego quite nicely!

Persu · 11/02/2020 08:05

Mine's all skin after a big weight loss, I'd much rather have a little plump tummy than the saggy, wrinkly overhang I have.

I'd never have surgery though, it's me and proof of the weight I lost. Life's too short to hate parts of yourself!
