DP sneezing

AIBU to want to murder him every time he sneezes?

It's so loud I can hear it from OUTSIDE THE HOUSE. If I'm sitting next to him it's genuinely painful.

He claims he can't sneeze more quietly, but this is bullshit, right?!

I can hear my neighbour sneeze through the walls when the House is quiet and he seems to sneeze all the bloody time and that’s annoying enough!

Supertrooper98 · 10/02/2020 20:49

Oh God my DH is the same. Worse I bet. He actually roars as he sneezes. I used to get sooo pissed off with him when our DC were babies. You know how hard it can be sometimes to get them to sleep then he'd do his roar sneeze and wake them. I was filled so much with hatred I found it hard to even look at him. Bit extreme maybe Hmm

Supertrooper98 · 10/02/2020 20:50

Meant to say I find it really selfish. There really is no need for it. I know a sneeze is impossible to be quiet but it really is possible to sneeze quieter with a bit of effort

lottie360 · 10/02/2020 20:50

One of my close reletives is so liud when she sneezes. She actually screames before hand as in 'AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH cho'

It makes me so mad. It is simply a spasm meant to clear particles. Why scream? Lol

TheMustressMhor · 10/02/2020 20:51

Yes, it's bullshit for him to say that he can't do it any quieter.

My sister had a ridiculously loud sneeze and claimed it wasn't possible for her to do it normally.

Then her DD had a baby and my one day when he was a toddler, he reacted in terror when my sister sneezed. Real terror. He cried for ages.

That stopped her.

From that day forwards she managed to sneeze like a normal person.

Singlebutmarried · 10/02/2020 20:52

My DH does this. He says it’s to clear the nose.

I pointed out shouting had feck all to do with the nose and if he can’t stop bloody shouting when he sneezes then to bugfer off.

Of course he still shouts when he sneezes and I still grit my teeth every time and refrain from poking him with the fire poker.

Singlebutmarried · 10/02/2020 20:53

You can also steal sneezes. If you notice them about to sneeze then distract them. It usually works.

BeansOnToastWithCheese · 10/02/2020 20:55

This is making me feel much better! Glad I'm not the only one ready to commit murder over sneezing...

He's being quite annoying in general this evening but the sneezing is the icing on the cake...

Genius @Singlebutmarried! I'm on the case...

I sneeze loudly. I can’t help it. Sorry.

AaronBurrSirr · 10/02/2020 20:58

I could have written this post!
Am pregnant and have jokingly told DH he will have to learn to sneeze quietly before the baby arrives... impossible, according to him Hmm

Binterested · 10/02/2020 21:01

I sneeze loudly. I can’t help it. I don’t understand those weird little cough sneezes - my head would explode if I did that Grin. Sneezing fits are also a thing in my family - 10 or 12 in a row. You would hate us Grin

PollyEsterblouse · 10/02/2020 21:07

You'll enjoy , then.

My partner is the same. Loud sneezing; loud nose-blowing; loud snoring.

My next-door neighbour is worse, and drives his wife bananas: we hear the HAARRGHH of his sneeze, then her shouting at him. Poor lady, but it is quite funny through the wall Grin

merryhouse · 10/02/2020 21:09

loud sneezing I don't mind

but the vocalisation Does My Head In

Riv12345 · 10/02/2020 21:11

I can see your point.

I get it when my DP breath in his sleep!!!
When he breath out it blows my face.
Cnt Stand it

EvaHarknessRose · 10/02/2020 21:23

I sneeze loud and thought I can't help it, but on QI they said it is actually just a socially learned affectation (I think they said people who are deaf from birth don't sneeze with sound?) I am sorry on behalf of my kind and I will try to amend my ways.

BustedDreams · 10/02/2020 21:25

@PollyEsterblouse hahaha 😂

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 10/02/2020 21:30

This is called a snout.
Shouting does not clear the nose, letting the force of the sneeze through the nose is what is supposed to happen to clear the irritation.
My dh does this and it drives me spare. You can hear it down the bloody garden with the door shut.
I know he can sneeze quietly because he did it once....in thirty years.
The worst part is he cups his hand over his mouth, directing his sneeze juice in my direction. Argh!

floordrobey · 10/02/2020 21:32

Don't 😫 this is my partner .. and when he sniffs too. It makes me want to cry.

SassenachWitch · 10/02/2020 21:34

I work with a loud sneezer, he’s in the office next door and at least 3 times an hour he explodes with the most ridiculously loud sneeze!!

I’m happily working away and BAM, massive sneeze, snotty splutter, followed by BLOODY HELL. Yeah mate, it’s loud 🙄 it actually frightens me, I jump outta my skin!

Tombliwho · 10/02/2020 21:42

It's so fucking annoying!!!! Also when they do multiple loud sneezes in rapid succession, like 5 massive ones and it's all big gasping, flailing, head holding drama.

Sparkesy · 10/02/2020 22:00

Loud sneezing is
a) attention-seeking and
b) selfish.
I'm definitely going to try some 'sneeze stealing'

Would distraction, or shock tactics work best do you think? How does one go about sneeze stealing for optimum outcomes?

user1470132907 · 10/02/2020 22:06

Colleague does this. Startles me to the point I jump out my seat. Actually hurts my ears. She seems to think it's funny. Yet she can sneeze quietly enough in meetings with important people. She's generally an odd sort who'll do anything for attention so I put it down to that...

BeansOnToastWithCheese · 10/02/2020 22:17

@EvaHarknessRose he loves QI so if I can find that clip on YouTube I think I'm halfway to proving my point!

Hooray!
