To ask if you wore Bandannas?

Name changed for this one. (Not a journo!)

Was discussing the thread about 2000s nostalgia with two old friends and one of them remembered she used to go around town in a bandanna quite often, tied in the old school way.

Did anyone do this back in the day?

YABU - Never
YANBU - Yes (at least once)

The hippies wore them in the 60's....

So a very long time before 90/00 OP

MillennialGirl · 09/02/2020 21:34

Indeed, as a teen in a small town I was probably a bit sheltered.

@MillennialGirl yes!! I could never get them to sit right on my head.

MillennialGirl · 09/02/2020 21:38

They were probably almost too small to sit right?

My friend definitely had the knack.

They’re coming back into fashion!

I work for a fashion company that’s streetwear/luxury and a fair few of the guys are seen walking around the offices with a bandana around the neck. Another old fashion seemingly coming back in!

Still can’t get the rolled up jeans/bright coloured socks and white trainers look though or where that came from. That is literally every 20/30 something man in our offices. Rolled up Levi’s to the ankle, bright yellow/green socks and a pair of Vans usually.

BirdieFriendBadge · 09/02/2020 21:47

Yes. There's a horrendous photo of me and my friends on Brighton beach when we were teens.

Must've been around 99/00

I have a pink bandana on my head - triangle at the back of my head style.

Cringe.

MillennialGirl · 09/02/2020 21:51

Birdie, that's what my friend used to do.

Interesting 70/30 split do far. That's higher for yes than I expected.

Yes but mine were pre-tied from Claire’s Accessories (so they went on kind of like a hat). And chunky Skechers with flairs. I don’t think that phase lasted long though before the emo one kicked in about 2002 (I’m sure it wasn’t called emo yet at that point though).

Bumping.

Was reminded of this thread when I saw this:

I wear them at home to flatern my poofy hair.

MillennialGirl · 19/04/2020 20:57

Cheesypea, I suspect a few might be joining you. x

I still wear bandanas but I play roller derby and kinda rock the pin up look

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 19/04/2020 21:13

i used to wear them over my hair...triangle over head ends tied under, but that was the very late 70s....i am very old!!

Like the red one in this link Classic Kerchief

I now wear one when have the roof down in the car but folded wide to keep my hair under control and bugs out of my ears, with the knot jauntily at the side

And I also had them for the dogs! :o

Fluffybutter · 19/04/2020 21:16

My ds 19 bought some off amazon the other day to keep his hair out of his eyes .
I call him Bruce now Grin

Well he loves the guitar so it kind of fits .. although I think he was trying more for a John Mayer look 😂

BeNiceToYourSister · 19/04/2020 21:38

I wore mine with two carefully arranged strands of hair poking out at the front. My god I looked cool.

MillennialGirl · 19/04/2020 21:39

I don't blame him.

tempestterra · 19/04/2020 21:40

Still do!

MillennialGirl · 19/04/2020 21:41

BeNice, we've all done strange things to look cool.

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow, it's funny because when they were popular in the early 2000s they seemed like a new thing.
