Thought it was double pasta filling, turns out its carrot

I can't tell you how disappointed I am. Filled pasta, pumpkin sage. For "health" chucked in pack of carrot, broccoli blah blah blah with the only sane ladies option of "scoff veg first then savour pasta". BUT rogue carrot "roundel", masquerading as disk of sagey pasta middle, ended up in the golden mouthful.
AIBU to ban vegetables?

OP I really liked your thread and opening post so thank you!

It’s interesting that when people see a different style of writing, a way they’re not familiar with that’s a little perhaps creative they want to attack.

I wonder why this is?

Honesty if you’ve been nasty to the OP in this thread can I ask what made you do so? If you didn’t enjoy it why not just move on rather than attacking?

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 07/02/2020 23:34

Yanbu.

But...carrot does not belong near pasta!

Root cause analysis: it went wrong when vegetables went anywhere near this meal.

Mrsmurrayposh · 07/02/2020 23:34

Ah, spinach. An old health "friend."
Not a true friend.
Gritty, when the carrot never is.
And no help whatsoever in the dark 😞

This serves you right for serving steamed veg with pasta. It sounds like you have learnt your lesson, though.

kateandme · 07/02/2020 23:48

its like when you get areally hot cup of tea and the phone rings.or pour your cereal and the kids call and it goes soggy.
or the last choc in the box isnt as good as you saved it to be and you would have rather have had the one before as the last!haha

do people have orders they eat all their different meals in?

FarTooSkinny · 07/02/2020 23:52

Is golden mouthful when you have your mouth open with a golden shower?

MiniMum97 · 07/02/2020 23:54

@FarTooSkinny 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

MiniMum97 · 07/02/2020 23:56

I have never heard the last mouthful of food described as the golden mouthful, is that something you made up.

Also couldn't make head nor tail of your post. Had to read the translation post further down. You write in a really weird way!

PixieRabbit · 07/02/2020 23:57

Nothing worse than being carroted at the end of a (mostly) delicious meal.

Although, being a rabbit, carrots are a special treat for me, but quite bad for the teeth. (Makes miffed Miffy face.)

Mrsmurrayposh · 07/02/2020 23:59

Gc, i have, without a doubt, learned my lesson.
From now on:
Although veg with some pasta
Seems like a faster
Way
To get your five a day
STOP!
Think for a while,
It's better by a mile,
To start a threat about it on mumsnet where everyone is so lovely and supportive 😍

BillieEilish · 08/02/2020 00:19

OP is either a writer as in author/talented person or a bit 'vino veritas' when drunk Grin

Either way, she is very interesting.

Baby spinach is not gritty OP and has many health properties that a carrot simply won't provide. It also goes beautifully with pasta and takes 20 seconds. Parmesan on top.

scared2020 · 08/02/2020 00:22

Haha very good OP
Only no carrots. Problem solved

scared2020 · 08/02/2020 00:26

Think OP means she ate the veg first not realising there was a piece of carrot left. When she savoured her pasta she ate the carrot which was a shock and very disappointing.

It seems the two don't go together.
fried plum tomatoes and mushrooms might be nice ? Or baby leaves and spinach ?

SlowSigh · 08/02/2020 00:30

Vegetables on a Friday night? Fuck that, I had pizza, followed by twiglets for health vit b12

I can tolerate a raw carrot at lunch, but it has no further place in my life.

Mrsmurrayposh · 08/02/2020 00:43

To lulu, billie, and others who have been super sweet on this daft thread 💜
Bloody pasta and veg, eh?

kateandme · 08/02/2020 01:06

FelicityBeedle · 08/02/2020 01:12

You were doing better than me, I buy the veg to have with the pasta, say ‘ooh I’ll just Blanch it at the last moment’ and I’m halfway through my bowl of pasta when I remember it’s in the fridge

Schuyler · 08/02/2020 01:46

Carrots do not belong with pasta!!

ChicChicChicChiclana · 08/02/2020 06:46

MrsMurray

Yabvvvvu! I can't begin to tell you how upset this thread has made me. I doubt I'll be able to get back to sleep now.

  1. First of all - who the heck actually eats pumpkin filled pasta? Pumpkin is a monstrous vegetable, literally the most boring flavour on earth. Soft, pappy and flavourless - it does NOT belong in pasta.
  1. So you want veg with your pasta? Then you have a huge Mumsnet green salad with it. And tomatoes if you like. Grated carrot is also permissable on the salad - that's very authentically Italian.
  1. Next the use of the word "sane" and "ladies" on a thread. Yikes!! .
  1. Finally you have posted a daft thread, possibly with some slightly obscure literary reference. The literal ladies of Mumsnet don't like this. The inevitable reaction (instead of just scrolling on by) will be to attack you, be sarcastic, demand an explanation, ask if that's all you've got to worry about.

Quite honestly, I'd go for 4 cheese next time, or those posh big squares of mushroom ravioli. And the fresh pesto you can buy in the shops is lovely too. Add some roasted cherry tomatoes and Bob's your uncle.

HomerSimpsonSmilingPolitely · 08/02/2020 07:21

YABU. You just need to look more closely - they aren't that difficult to tell apart.

In future use red peppers and leeks. No confusion there.

HomerSimpsonSmilingPolitely · 08/02/2020 07:23

Pumpkin is a monstrous vegetable

Well now you're just being nasty. Nobody really thinks this about pumpkin

Footle · 08/02/2020 07:43

OP you're a nice Freudian slipper "posting a threat on MN".
Btw, grating a carrot into the minced beef for a Bol sauce, after it's browned but before its simmered, is an old trick for enhancing the flavour.
