Thought it was double pasta filling, turns out its carrot

I can't tell you how disappointed I am. Filled pasta, pumpkin sage. For "health" chucked in pack of carrot, broccoli blah blah blah with the only sane ladies option of "scoff veg first then savour pasta". BUT rogue carrot "roundel", masquerading as disk of sagey pasta middle, ended up in the golden mouthful.
AIBU to ban vegetables?

Fannia · 07/02/2020 21:34

My dh always takes the sane ladies option and eats his veg first. I am not sure if this affects his gender.

NotAPan · 07/02/2020 21:38

What?

Alladdsup · 07/02/2020 21:41

I'd be gutted if my last mouthful turned out to be a fucking carrot so yanbu in the slightest

Ponoka7 · 07/02/2020 21:51

Fannia, the OP has explained that she meant it about herself. Just as I would, at times, describe myself as 'running around like a mad woman'.

OP it's as bad as your last biscuit just crumbling in your tea.

TrainspottingWelsh · 07/02/2020 22:01

Yanbu, but you have only yourself to blame. You were the one that willingly invited the pumpkin in and it was bound to go downhill from there, even before you added more fridge offal. Wtf were you thinking?

IamwhoIsayIam · 07/02/2020 22:24

Your biggest mistake here (IMO) is the roundel. I can not cope with any kind of round sliced veg, same applies to courgette or even olives when cut width ways into little circles. I would reject the dish purely on this basis (but would eat if offending veg were chopped with square edges).

goodwinter · 07/02/2020 22:29

Allow me to translate.

OP has made filled pasta and added veg. She's eaten her meal and left one "final mouthful" of the best bit of the dish, to be eaten last and enjoyed. OP thought her final mouthful was a lovely bit of pasta filling, but it was actually carrot.

I've been where you are OP, and it's not nice 😬 this is why I eat from worst-best in pretty much every meal I have. Would have ended up with about 50% of the pasta to finish with, after eating a mix of pasta and veg. Works for me!

goodwinter · 07/02/2020 22:30

Wait, even I read it wrong! You did eat all the veg first, but were just unfortunate enough to have a rogue carrot left as your last piece of "pasta filling" anyway? Ouch. My condolences.

TheQueens · 07/02/2020 22:30

No, no, no you have done it all wrong. Filled pasta is to be eaten with a calorie laden sauce and a huge amount of garlic bread, perhaps a cold glass of wine. If you are being a total slattern straight from the pan is also good. Who puts vegetables with stuffed pasta? Heathen.

NotAPan · 07/02/2020 22:39

Fridge offal 🤣

OlaEliza · 07/02/2020 22:51

She should have just said that then instead of writing such nonsense.

TheNoodlesIncident · 07/02/2020 22:56

OP, did you make this all yourself or was the pasta bought pre-stuffed? I do like the filled pastas but, tell the truth and shame the devil etc, I could not be arsed actually making it from scratch. And YY to eaten with calorie laden sauce. In our house small broccoli florets and sweetcorn can be added, and halloumi is a positive boon - you can't go wrong with halloumi - but carrots... you're a braver soul than I am, that's all.

Ds has the policy of eating the best bits of a dinner first, and here I think he is 100% wrong (and weird, he didn't get that from me). You eat the crappest part first, leaving the best bits to be savoured at the end. Your mistake was in not correctly identifying all the carrot pieces in the early stages. I'm not criticising mind, it was probably lurking under a pasta pillow, trying to look like a section of pumpkin mush.

Still, lessons can be learned from this.

SarahAndQuack · 07/02/2020 23:00

Sweet Jesus.

It's annoying enough when toddlers make an enormous self-centred fuss about accidentally eating veg. If you're genuinely an adult, then FFS, get a hobby.

Mrsmurrayposh · 07/02/2020 23:03

Yaaasthequeen! I was eating straight from the pan. I don't wash up on Friday nights.
Sisters all, for clarity:
Shop bought (asda) filled pasta (sage and pumpkin)
Shop bought bag of steam in microwave mixed veg (asda)
On top: grated parmasan, salt, pepper, butter
Eaten in the order of:
Get rid of the hedgerow, enjoy the goodies.
Using the words "sane" and "woman" was, i accept, out of order. Apologies again.

I have a very exciting hobby, but it's a secret.

OP posts:
SarahAndQuack · 07/02/2020 23:07

No, it isn't secret.

You've downed slightly more wine than you should and you imagine you're really funny.

That's not a hobby. It's just annoying.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 07/02/2020 23:09

Wow. There's some tetchiness here tonight.

I understand op. There's nothing worse than saving the best bit until last only to find out it's not the best bit. It's like thinking there's another chocolate in the packet only to discover there isn't.

Digitalash · 07/02/2020 23:12

Wow I see the bitches are out in force tonight Confused

OP I too would be highly upset if my last special saved mouthful was a carrot. A golden mouthful sounds like something else entirely though Grin

Mrsmurrayposh · 07/02/2020 23:20

Sorry Sarah, i didn't mean to be annoying. It was just meant to be a bit of fun.
Night all, thanks for the carrotty chat 😊

Also OP, I liked how it was written and it did make me laugh. Don’t mind those without reading comprehension skills

Jammydodger1981 · 07/02/2020 23:23

@SarahAndQuack Well you’re a fucking delight aren’t you!

Maybe if you don’t find it funny then move on and don’t post, instead of bitchplopping all over the thread?

SarahAndQuack · 07/02/2020 23:24

No need to apologise. I just responded to what I read. If you thought it was funny, fair enough. Confused

BillieEilish · 07/02/2020 23:24

This is a very funny thread. Grin

Wilt a bit of Spinach at the end in with the pasta OP if you want health.

Never a carrot.

Haffiana · 07/02/2020 23:28

Next time, steam the veg and put it in fridge to take to work for healthy lunch. Eat the pasta on its luscious own.

The next day forget to take the veg to work.

DiegoSaber · 07/02/2020 23:31

This is one of the most unintelligible OPs I've read in a while.
