To not have anyone to sign passport?

I am having trouble with thinking who can sign for me and my children’s passports. I am an introvert and have no friends, family limited, but obviously can’t sign, not friends with the neighbours. What can I do? I’m not working atm either so no manager etc

GP? Although they may charge.

lastqueenofscotland · 05/02/2020 23:48

A GP? I think police can too?

PumpkinP · 05/02/2020 23:49

I’ve heard gps dont do it anymore and we don’t have a regular one anyway, as it’s always some else whenever I go there.

Your kids teacher, or your dentist maybe

Splendidd · 05/02/2020 23:49

Kids' teacher?

Temporaryanonymity · 05/02/2020 23:49

Is this for a renewal? I did mine online and I don’t recall requiring anyone to sign for me. Could you ask a teacher at school for the children if it’s needed? I’m sure a neighbour wouldn’t mind if you asked. I wouldn’t mind.

PumpkinP · 05/02/2020 23:49

Doesn’t the person need to know you for 2 years?

Don’t your children have friends who have parents?

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 05/02/2020 23:51

How long have they been at school - I believe a teacher can sign? Or a nurse instead of gp?

PumpkinP · 05/02/2020 23:51

Mine is a renewal, same for 2 children,?but other 2 would be a first passport.

Head teacher will often do it.

PumpkinP · 05/02/2020 23:52

No no kids play out around here they have friends at the school but I’m not friends with the mums.

How old are your kids? Do they go to any clubs? There may be someone there that can sign. I sign passport forms all the time for kids and their parents at the afterschool care I run

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 05/02/2020 23:52

Are health visitors not registered nurses? If you have one that might be worth a go?

heath48 · 05/02/2020 23:53

You don’t need a signature for a renewal passport.

flumposie · 05/02/2020 23:53

Teacher. I've signed a lot over the years.

rededucator · 05/02/2020 23:54

Teacher

lyralalala · 05/02/2020 23:54

It has to be someone that has known you for two years so could be someone linked to your older children

Pharmacists or teachers would be able to do it. You shouldnt need it for a renewal

PumpkinP · 05/02/2020 23:55

2 children will need a first passport, haven’t see the hv since dd was 10 days old. Might have to see if a teacher will do it.

okiedokieme · 05/02/2020 23:55

The renewals are easy, we do lots at work (a church) they need have known you 2 years, not the kids as they are under 16. I remember a friend of my mum doing my first one, she worked in a bank

Whatifitallgoesright · 05/02/2020 23:57

This has always irritated me. It just seems elitist. Why is a professional required to vouchsafe for you? Why is someone who works in a shop not valid? What is the point of it?

PumpkinP · 05/02/2020 23:59

Yeh it’s difficult when you don’t know anyone, my sisters a teacher but can’t sign it Sad I don’t have the best relationship with the school so reluctant to ask them but it’s either that or don’t go!

My dm's next door neighbour signed my dc's passport and he is a mechanic who works from home so must be classed as someone with good standing in the community. I've used teachers/headteachers and a friends daughter who is some sort of accountant/financial adviser.
